Today we’d like to introduce you to Deborah Glenn.

Deborah, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Growing up I was fascinated by birth. The art of women transforming physically and emotionally to carry legacy has been something that I wanted to work around since I was a little girl.

When I became a mother in 2014 I was completely blown away by the lack of knowledge of motherhood that surrounds our communities now, how comparison becomes the thief to so many mothers hearts. This began a platform for me in photography to begin to enter in the lifestyle, real moments. (Because let’s be real, no one likes the pressure of perfectly posing a two-year-old, and it’s much easier to capture a tickle!)

Today I operate as a doula, work as an associate photographer for Birth Unscripted, and have the honor of capturing postpartum, newborn, family, and other dreams!

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Challenges is the name of the game. Competition is high with such incredible photographers, and the younger generation rising up with a lot more time! I would say the challenge will always be the balance of serving my two little girls, but also pursuing passion. My heart wants to be all into both areas, but obviously, my little’s are my main love.

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Deborah Glenn Photography & Wellness – what should we know?
My passion for motherhood. I began in birth photography, then became a doula because I still couldn’t handle how moms didn’t know what was happening to their bodies. My heart is to capture mom’s living their days- to capture the moments that we so desperately wish would speed up but to be still and remember them through a portrait. To have pregnancy, birth, newborn, and my favorite “postpartum raw”.

This branch has become my most cherished, because the human body stretches, carries life, and nourishes in whatever form or fashion this new baby. Families should feel so unbelievably proud to find joy in the chaos, and my heart is through each moment to help capture the moment to remember this. I’m most proud of the fact that I want my clients to feel their beauty in disheveled hair, hard moments, and laughing because we like to think we are in control— but the truth is we are always so far from it!

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
Peace. In every atmosphere, I want my clients to feel peace. In a birthing room, it’s the one moment that heaven meets earth that we get to celebrate and see. Throughout toddler meltdowns and ravaging hormones, the peace knowing this season is marked with difficulty but the morning still comes.
