Meet Dee Martin of Dee Martin Realty Group, RE/MAX Alight

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dee Martin.

Hi Dee, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Before becoming a real estate agent, I was a stay-at-home homeschool mom of two daughters who are the joy of my life. After discovering my life was not what I thought it was, I ended up in a pretty rough divorce, and had to figure out what I was going to do to support myself and my teenaged girls. My aunt and uncle had owned a real estate brokerage in Dallas, and my cousin has been the realtor on the front of D Magazine, and I always thought when my children were grown maybe I would dabble in the world of real estate. I didn’t have big career aspirations, but when I was put in a position to sink or swim, I decided swimming was the only option. I got my license in 2013 and have never looked back.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting out, I worked long hours and I still do. I’m a bit of a work-a-holic, so it’s a good thing I love what I do. There have been years of growth. Years where the market was tough. Years where my personal life was difficult. Days where I wanted to quit. But I keep coming back and working hard for my clients.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Dee Martin Realty Group, RE/MAX Alight?
I run a small team of 3-5 real estate agents in the piney woods of East Texas–Tyler, Texas. We specialize in residential real estate from small to large homes in Tyler and surrounding areas, ranches, and land. We pretty much sell it all. We have received a lot of rewards over the years, but I feel like the thing we are known for and the thing that truly matters the most is that we know our industry and market, we love advising our clients, and we truly look out for our client’s best interest. We are rule-followers, so we don’t cut corners or turn a blind eye to things. We take our job as fiduciaries seriously. Being part of an international brand of full-time top real estate agents has always felt like a fit for me. I’ve been with RE/MAX my entire career. We know our stuff. We answer our phones. And we are working hard every day as our motto says, “Helping You find your way home!” Our little team does around 100 transactions per year, and that is no small task. We have a great support staff that helps us do that very well.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up in Kansas, Utah, and the Dallas area, I was just a normal kid. I always loved to talk and got in trouble in school for it regularly. I was sweet with a little bit of sass for sure. Had I been more of a math student, I would have loved to have been an architect. Homes and people…they’re my thing.
