Meet Deepwave X

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deepwave X.

Hi Deepwave X, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Growing up I was always prone to finding different ways of expressing myself oftentimes through many creative ventures related to art, music & business. I would sit alone in a room and come up with random storylines in my head and you’d find them expressed in an array of different things including film, photography, and even creative writings I kept in a spiral notebook and still have ‘til this day! I always felt like an artist with no specific title, but one thing I did know is that I was good at learning networks & systems. I was pretty successful on YouTube as a content creator after almost quitting before posting the last video I had on my hard drive that I had recorded a few months earlier with my younger cousin Kyrron. My YouTube channel now has over 3.5 million+ views. People often ask me if I’m still active as a content creator. The answer is yes. But the truth is that it was never my destiny to be put into one category no matter how much success I have in what I do. I never even looked at myself as an artist until I had to take a step back to appreciate my own hard work, I’ve been able to accomplish so far in my short time in the creative & fashion world.

In one the darkest moments in my life when I felt like I had nobody by my side but God and the talent he gave me, one night I sat down, picked up a pen, and began to draw out for the first time one of the original concepts for a clothing line I later called “GLATE”, a brand I had not named yet or had a particular clear direction for. I drew my first attempt on white printer paper to visualize what was in my head, then after renewing a previous photoshop subscription I used in the past to create YouTube thumbnails I later moved & redesigned the concept onto photoshop canvas to have it ready to be printed onto fabrics.

Even as simple as this first version of the design was, it turned out to be an interesting & wearable design even in its simplest form to me. The design simply read “GLATE” and had 3 lines running through the name. The lines later made into “rings” would represent synergy to me. This concept would later be expounded upon after I hit another ground zero moment as a creator in my journey after losing my job as a package handler at FedEx. This drove me to invest in myself & my brand more as this more detailed design of an angel pointing and leading over a city would be made and released as a premium quality hoodie made with high-quality threads on October 12, 2020. This was known as a Debut release for my brand and also as an introduction for myself into the highly competitive fashion world. This release moved my brand & design into a new creative territory different from my other previous work. My “Debut” Hoodie has received a good amount of recognition from buyers and admirers around the world who took a liking to the concept and delivery of this particular design!

I have also gained experience in the film and photography production world simultaneously learning both crafts and businesses alike. I’ve grown and learned a lot during this time, and many experiences I’ve faced as an artist and creator have significantly widened my perspective as an entrepreneur and leader. My photography work has been reposted and recognized by a few of rap industry’s biggest artists. I’ve worked with some of Dallas’s many talented models and creators on the rise! I plan to make a huge impact on the world but starting here in the city of Dallas. Because I’ve always been a business-first type of person, I’ve previously haven’t given myself enough space to look at what I did myself as an overall creative artist. I’m someone who enjoys the feedback and attention of others, but I’ve always had a deep drive in me to be the best at whatever I put my mind towards. I have inspired many people on the platforms I’ve grown & I plan to continue to grow and reach more people to make a positive impact in the world.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It took consistency and a lot of time to build up to own some of the resources & funding we needed to be able to start & revamp GLATE for the first time. I worked a factory job during most of this process and attempted community college while also creating content for myself and other. I’ve faces fatigue and burnout many times during the process of growing as a person & artist.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
