Meet Elecia Wright of Taste & See

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elecia Wright.

Hi Elecia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began Taste & See as “help for the holidays”, for my mother who would do all the cooking and baking. From there, I began to perfect recipes and have branched out into offering both desserts and catering for special events. After being laid-off from my corporate job of 10.5 years this Spring, I’ve delved head first into expanding my small business. What continued as a hobby and comfort outlet for me as a single mother, has grown into a legacy that she desires to leave behind for my daughter and generations to come. I strive to put love in every bite with scratch-made goods, and desire to put a smile on every face with the gifts God has given.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This has not been a smooth road at all! I’ve struggled while juggling being a solo parent, juggling my previous full time job, and being a homeschool parent as well. A few years ago, I was tempted to stop baking and cooking entirely due to being overwhelmed.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I specialize in providing scratch made luxury desserts, as well as catering for special events. Im known for providing feel good food that takes you down memory lane, that is just as equally aesthetically pleasing.

What sets me apart from others is I provide a luxury experience, highlighting the use of local ingredients, and promising a beautiful scratch-made product.

Brand wise, I’m most proud of my decision to stand firm in my faith in Jesus Christ. For this reason, I may not be everyone’s first choice, but that’s okay! Being a faith based business, there are certain events and/or cake themes I’m unable to participate in, however, I’m delighted with my decision to stand firm.

I would like everyone to know that each bit of dessert or food that I create, is truly done from my soul. My current dessert menu is updated seasonally, so you have the option to try new and exciting flavors throughout the year for all things; from cakes and cookies to cinnamon rolls and muffins!

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Having the ability to cook, bake, homeschool my daughter, as well as spreading the gospel message all bring me joy. This business has afforded me the ability to do all of these things at once!
