Today we’d like to introduce you to Evelyn Escuadra.
Hi Evelyn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started in real estate because of the experiences my parents went through. Growing up, I honestly didn’t know what a realtor really did or what real estate even meant. It wasn’t something that was talked about in my community, and it certainly wasn’t something that was ever explained to us.
But during COVID, when the world slowed down, I started doing research. I was curious, and the more I learned, the more intrigued I became. What really pushed me into taking real estate seriously was something very personal — something that impacted my family in a big way.
A few years before, my parents had purchased a commercial property, and unfortunately, the realtor they worked with didn’t know what he was doing. He didn’t do his due diligence, he didn’t guide them properly, and it became clear that he cared more about earning a commission than protecting his clients. Because of that, my parents ended up in a deal that cost them thousands and thousands of dollars over the years.
Watching how someone else’s negligence could put such a heavy financial burden on my family made me realize how powerful — and how dangerous — this business can be when it’s done wrong. I saw firsthand how one mistake can affect an entire family.
That’s when I told myself, “I’m going to become a realtor, and I’m going to do it the right way.”
I wanted to learn the business deeply — not just pass the exam, but truly understand contracts, due diligence, negotiations, and everything that goes into protecting clients. And I especially wanted to serve people in the Hispanic community or anyone who was buying or investing for the first time, because so many of us are never taught how real estate works.
I never wanted to be that stereotype of ‘the realtor who screws you over.’
I wanted to be the person who educates people:
how the process works,
how to avoid bad deals,
how to invest wisely, and
how real estate can build generational wealth.
Because of my family’s experience, I naturally got into commercial real estate too. I didn’t want other families to go through what mine went through.
Along the way, I also realized something else — that I needed to invest myself. And I’m very fortunate, because I already owned another business. I was able to reinvest earnings from that business into my real estate branding, marketing, and education. I pushed myself out of my comfort zone — using social media, putting myself out there, networking, reconnecting with my sphere, and showing people who I really am: someone honest, hard-working, and dedicated.
I also brought in the negotiation skills and customer-first mindset I developed from running retail businesses with my family. That background helped me tremendously. It taught me how to communicate, how to problem-solve, and how to stay persistent — all skills that translate perfectly into real estate.
Over time, I even began investing in real estate personally. And that’s something I’m excited to keep growing — not just for myself, but as part of the example I want to set for my clients. If I’m telling people real estate can change their lives, I want to live that truth too.
The thing is, anyone can get their real estate license.
But not everyone can stay in the business.
Not everyone can build relationships, earn trust, or generate business consistently.
Real estate is hard. It takes hustle, discipline, and heart.
And I actually love that part of it. I don’t mind the work. I don’t mind the long hours. Because at the end of the day, I know why I’m doing it — to help families, to protect them, to educate them, and to continue growing wealth for my own family as well.
And that’s why I’m still here. That’s why I love what I do. And that’s why I’m excited to keep growing in this industry
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely wasn’t easy. When I first got my license, I was honestly pretty clueless. You pass the test, but no one really tells you what to do next. That’s why choosing the right brokerage with strong training and resources was so important to me.
In the beginning, I followed top producers on social media, connected with people in the industry, and made it a point to learn from those who were already successful. I became friends with a top producer at my brokerage who really took me under his wing. He helped review my contracts, answered every question I had, and guided me through situations I had never experienced. I’m extremely grateful for his mentorship.
Eventually, I joined a team that has also been a great support system. Everyone has different strengths and experiences, and I’ve learned a lot from each of them.
Real estate is challenging — not every transaction is smooth. A lot of what we do involves problem-solving behind the scenes that clients never see. But those challenges have made me more creative and persistent. I’ve learned to never take ‘no’ for an answer and to always find a solution.
The road has definitely been tough, but it has also been completely worth it
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I’m a full-time real estate professional based in Dallas–Fort Worth, and my business is centered around helping people make confident, educated decisions about real estate. I specialize in first-time homebuyers, VA loans, and commercial leasing, buying, and selling. Because I work both in the residential and commercial sides, I’m able to serve a wide range of clients — from families buying their first home to entrepreneurs looking for the right location to start or expand their business.
One thing that truly sets me apart is that I’m bilingual and fluent in Spanish, which allows me to serve the Hispanic community in a deeper, more personal way. A lot of families don’t have access to real estate education in their language, and many hesitate to ask questions out of fear or embarrassment. I take pride in creating a comfortable environment where clients feel safe, heard, and fully supported throughout the entire process.
I also come from a family of entrepreneurs — we own a business together — so I understand the financial side of things, what business owners need, and the challenges they face. That experience helps me guide commercial clients toward the right areas, price points, and opportunities. Being a Dallas native, I know the DFW market extremely well — where development is happening, which neighborhoods are growing, and where the best long-term investments are.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the reputation I’ve built around trust, honesty, and education. I’ve worked hard to show people that they can rely on me, whether they’re buying their very first home or making a major commercial investment. My approach is very hands-on and personal. I walk my clients through everything — from financing options and loan programs to inspections, negotiations, and what to expect after closing.
As a first-generation Latina, I know what it feels like to grow up without access to financial or real estate knowledge. I know how intimidating homeownership can seem, and I also know how life-changing it can be. That’s why I’m passionate about showing people that they can own a home — often sooner than they think. Many of my clients are shocked to realize they qualified years ago.
At the end of the day, I want readers to know that my brand is built on education, empowerment, and genuine care. Real estate is not just a transaction for me — it’s about helping families build stability, create generational wealth, and feel confident every step of the way. Whether it’s residential or commercial, English or Spanish, first-time buyers or seasoned investors — I’m here to guide my clients to the fullest and make the process as smooth and informed as possible.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Yes, I’ve read Exactly What to Say for Real Estate Agents by Chris Smith, and it quickly became one of my favorite books. When I first started in real estate, I did a lot of research on what books and podcasts could help me grow into a successful agent, and that one really stood out.
I’m also a big fan of audiobooks and podcasts. Some of my favorites include:
More Money, Less Hustle by Jess Lenouvel — a great audiobook that helped me understand how to build a sustainable real estate business without burning out.
A Top-Producing Agent’s Guide to Earning Unlimited Income — another valuable resource that gave me insight into what habits and strategies top agents use.
The Psychology of Money — one of my favorite books on wealth, mindset, and financial behavior. It offered timeless lessons that apply not just to real estate, but to life.
What Confident Women Do by Katie Richardson — an empowering read that helped with confidence, mindset, and showing up authentically.
Financial Feminist — a podcast I really enjoy for its straightforward conversations about money and financial independence.
All of these books and podcasts have helped shape my perspective, strengthen my mindset, and improve the way I show up for my clients.
