Meet Felicia Graham of Dallas-Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Felicia Graham.

Hi Felicia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am originally from Monroe, Louisiana, and when I look back, I can see that every chapter of my life was quietly preparing me for the work I do now, long before Brushes & Bonds ever existed. I have always been the person who loves gathering people, checking on them, and creating spaces where others feel safe to exhale. That showed up in my family, friendships, church, work, and every community I was a part of.

As I moved through marriage, motherhood, career changes, personal loss, and major life transitions, I started to notice a pattern in myself and in the women around me. We were the caregivers and the encouragers, the ones who remembered everyone’s needs and held everything together. At the same time, many of us did not have a consistent place where we could lay our burdens down and be poured into ourselves.

For me, that realization was not theoretical. I am a domestic violence survivor, a divorced single mother, and a woman who has faced homelessness. I know what it feels like to hold everything together in public while feeling broken and unseen in private. Walking through my own healing journey showed me how powerful it is to finally be in a room where you do not have to pretend you are okay.

That is where the seed for Brushes & Bonds, presented by PYNC Foundation, was planted. I wanted to create the kind of space I wish I had more often: a room where women can step away from their responsibilities for a moment, breathe, create, talk honestly about what they are carrying, and leave feeling lighter and more supported. What started as a vision for one gathering has grown into a community of women from different ages and backgrounds who come together to learn, heal, laugh, connect, and grow.

Today, Brushes & Bonds continues to evolve, but the heart is still the same. My work is about creating spaces where women feel seen, valued, and reminded that they do not have to navigate life alone.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has been meaningful, but it has not been smooth. Building something that is centered on women’s healing and well-being means you are inviting people to prioritize themselves in a world that constantly tells them to keep pushing, keep producing, and keep putting everyone else first. You are also introducing conversations around mental wellness and self-care to women who have been taught to be strong for everyone around them.

There have been moments when the vision felt bigger than the resources, when I wondered if people would show up, and when balancing my own life, family, and responsibilities with this calling felt overwhelming. There were times I was exhausted from holding space for others while still working through my own valley seasons.

Part of what has been challenging is building experiences that center mental health and wellness in communities that are often overlooked or underserved. I am passionate about bringing these conversations and resources into rooms where women might not otherwise have access to therapy, coaching, or curated wellness spaces, and that requires faith, creativity, and a lot of perseverance.

Those challenges have stretched me, but they have also anchored me in why this work matters. Every time a woman shares that she felt seen for the first time in a long time, that she found language for what she was going through, or that she left a Brushes & Bonds experience feeling lighter and more hopeful, it reminds me that the sacrifices are not in vain. The journey has had its obstacles, but the purpose behind it has always been bigger than the challenges.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am the founder of PYNC Foundation and the creator of Brushes & Bonds, a women’s wellness experience that uses creativity and conversation to foster healing, connection, and emotional well-being. On the surface, it looks like a beautiful paint night. In reality, it is an intentional space for women to slow down, breathe, and be honest about what they are carrying.

Painting is at the center, but our focus is the woman holding the brush. There is something powerful about inviting women to sit at a table and focus on a canvas after spending so much of their day caring for others. The simple rhythm of brush to canvas creates space to be present, quiet some of the noise, and reconnect with yourself while being surrounded by other women who are doing the same.

At a Brushes & Bonds event, women experience an expert panel featuring licensed therapists, healthcare and wellness professionals, and community leaders, along with guided conversations around topics that affect women every day: mental wellness, self-care, grief, caregiving, relationships, life transitions, faith, purpose, and personal development. The evening also includes a reflective canvas painting session, a shared meal, music, and intentional opportunities to connect with other women in the room. My goal is to create environments where women feel safe showing up exactly as they are and to ensure they leave with both encouragement and practical resources they can carry into their everyday lives.

What I am most proud of is the community that has formed around this work. I have watched women walk in as strangers and leave exchanging numbers, tears, and hugs. I have seen women return event after event, bringing their sisters, friends, coworkers, and daughters because they want them to experience the same sense of safety and support.

What sets Brushes & Bonds apart is that we intentionally care for the whole woman. We combine the therapeutic benefits of creativity with honest conversation, mental health advocacy, and an atmosphere of real grace and safety. Women do not just leave with a painting for their wall. They leave knowing that they were seen, heard, and cared for, and my hope is that no woman who walks into our rooms ever feels unseen again.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I want women to know that taking care of themselves is not selfish. For so many of us, it feels natural to show up for our families, careers, churches, and communities, but it can feel uncomfortable to turn that same care inward. We forget that we also deserve the softness, support, and compassion we extend to everybody else.

One of the greatest lessons I have learned through my own journey and through Brushes & Bonds is that we are not meant to do life alone. Healing happens in community. Growth happens in community. Sometimes the bravest thing we can do is slow down, admit that we are tired, and allow others to walk alongside us.

I share this work as someone who has been the woman in the room silently carrying more than anyone knew. I know how much it means when someone looks you in the eyes and really sees you. That is why I am so passionate about creating spaces where women are reminded that they matter, too.

Our next Brushes & Bonds experience, The Woman in the Middle, is happening on October 17th in Frisco, Texas. It is created for the women who are holding so much at once: navigating perimenopause, menopause, and hormonal changes, raising children, caring for aging parents, showing up in their careers, and still trying to make space for their own hearts. That night, women will experience an expert panel that includes healthcare and wellness professionals, guided conversations around mental health and self-care, a reflective canvas painting session, intentional community connection, food, and live music.

We also provide take-home wellness resources and tools so the support does not end when the event ends. My hope is that women leave feeling lighter, more informed, and more seen, with connections and information they can carry into their everyday lives.

If there is one thing I want women to take away, it is that they do not have to carry everything alone and they are worthy of rooms that make them feel safe, supported, and seen. When women come together in authentic, judgment-free spaces, something sacred happens. Walls come down, burdens feel a little lighter, and we remember that there is still so much life and purpose ahead of us.
