Marquise B. Stephens (H.j. The Barber) a Master Barber/Groomer with extensive experience in the barber/beauty industry. Licensed since 2013 & over ten years in the profession, a collage of knowledge in the craft and barbershop etiquette has been handed down. Reliable Quality Grooming is a fun/professional service suite owned and operated by Marquise B. Stephens (H.j. The Barber) located in Plano, TX. Being the owner/operator I’m in control of all marketing, branding & promotions for the brand & operations. Also a hair replacement specialist with over two years experience in that growing aspect of the industry. Successfully hosted the “Reliable Quality Hair Replacement Class” Feb. 4th, 2019, which certified over 20 barbers/stylists. With over 100 written reviews and a 10k plus Instagram barbering following. Definitely humbled & knowledgeable on the levels that barbering has taken me. My passion for children is what really drives me and pushes me to set the bar for barbering in my area as a whole. I extend every aspect of the knowledge I’ve gained to the youth that service and lifetime bonds are made. I truly love my profession and every aspect of it!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Its definitely been a challenging road but every obstacle I’ve faced has made the position I’m in more fulfilling. Putting God 1st and letting him lead has really given me a different aspect to view the trials and tribulations. You begin to understand that they serve a purpose in growth.
Please tell us about Reliable Quality Grooming.
Reliable Quality Grooming is the brand that I stand behind. Established in 2016 it has been the staple for my creativity with barbering. I specialize in a wide range of faded and blended haircuts. Also, on the innovative side male hair replacement services are available! Being able to get to a level to share this knowledge with upcoming barbers is truly the mark I want to leave on this industry. So much in this craft is truly learned by experience and failure with little to no guidance. That’s goal to help guide other barbers to true success.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If I had to start over, I wouldn’t change anything but my seriousness in the profession. If I had taken barbering as serious as I do now back in my younger days, I personally would’ve been at higher level earlier in the industry. And its a lot of opportunities based solely on your professionalism and seriousness. It took a minute for me to grasp that concept.
