Meet Jassi Rideaux of Chateau Rideaux

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jassi Rideaux.

Jasmine won her first pageant trophy when she was about twelve years old. Before that time, she was a young ballet, tap dancer, and sports all-star. From basketball to track, tennis, and Cheerleading Jassi has always been active. During her collegiate years at Langston University she was Miss Krimson and Kreme (A scholarship pageant hosted by the men of Kappa Alpha Psi) Miss Langston University (The biggest pageant put on my the university) which granted her access to compete at the state level of Miss Oklahoma.

During, the undergraduate studies she was very active and was initiated into the Famous Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. (The same Organization our Vice President Kamala Harris is a part of). In 2015 Jassi was crowned the Royal International Miss Oklahoma. Shortly after Graduating with more honors than we can list, she made a tough decision to opt-out of the national pageant because of a new career opportunity as an international flight attendant based out of San Francisco. In two years Jassi had visited enough places to need a new passport… not because it was expired but because there was no more room for stamps. She visited over 10 countries in just a short amount of time in her career. Her Instagram boasts over 11k followers half of which she grew during her college years as her following of anxious women awaiting the next beauty tip or pageant update wanted to follow. She began posting her travel and getting exposure from many of the Instagram travel feed pages.

In 2019 Jassi visited China and India where she wanted to source a beauty product that she could offer to other women who love everything about getting dolled up. Jassi considers herself a girly girl and based on her past we can see why. She thought it would be an important step in her career to visit the vendors and manufacturers of where she would buy her Hair extensions product from. Jassi went over 30 hours via flights from the USA in the mountains and towns of the smallest Chinese and Indian villages and found the best quality hair extension products. From Hand ventilated wigs that are placed strand by strand, to machine crafted,tape-in clip-in extensions, and more. She found it all on her solo quest to start a company. She returned three weeks later and birthed Chateau Rideaux Inc. A Virginia Registered S corp company that is online-based offering the rawest form of hair extensions in her Rideaux collection via chateaurideaux.com Jassi has always loved making her friends and family feel beautiful and loved… rather she was doing the families hair and makeup when she came to town or letting her younger cousins play in all of her beauty pageant costumes. From Birth Jasmine, Rideaux was born to be the owner of chateau Rideaux and known as @JassiThebeauty. The very woman she is today. I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Interestingly enough, many people see the glitz and glam of my current life and think it’s always been this easy. It hasn’t. I’ve worked since I was 13 years old. I started off braiding hair out of my Aunt and Grandmothers’s salon and had two paying jobs in the local mall. I could work 20 hours a week with my parent’s permission. I worked at these two jobs every day from 4:00-9 and some weekends. I also was cheerleading and going to school. My parents had divorced and life wasn’t as sweet as it once was… my mom couldn’t keep up with my expenses and I didn’t want to go without so with her permission I got the jobs.

I was rolling pretzels for Auntie Anne with my best friend whose name is ironically Jasma and once that job shift was done I’d go down to the other end of the mall and was the “survey girl” They hey would you like to take a survey well pay $2 for just 10 minutes of your time. During that time it was difficult I wasn’t able to be stress free as my life once was I was working hard for a young teenager. Once I got to college work was so instilled in me I started working at the local Smart styles hair salon. I’d completed Cosmetology school during high school so it licensed me to work in a professional salon. I often felt like I was missing out because while everyone else was enjoying college life I was traveling up and down the highway to work at a salon making $7.50 an hour. Those tough years birthed my abilities to now run a successful business.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Chateau Rideaux?
The birth of Chateau Rideaux was rooted before JassiTheBeauty was born. Jassi’s grandmother, Toni Rideaux, was her hometown’s first black female salon owner to run a salon that wasn’t inside a home. Her grandmother stressed the importance of her daughter and sisters being licensed in order to work in the family’s salon. Growing up Jassi would visit “the shop” as she called it where her grandmother and several aunts would dress hair daily. Hair quickly became a lifestyle for younger Rideaux. By the time she was 12 years old she was already doing hair extensions and shortly after she learned about a school where students if accepted, could be entered into a cosmetology school program. Jassi learned it would be the same cosmetology school her grandmother attended. She was accepted and graduated cosmetology school as a licensed cosmetologist at just 17 years old. Jassi’s grandmother, after creating a hair empire, decided it was time for her next business adventure. She’d passed her real estate license board and gutted the front of the salon leaving the back half perfectly intact.

From there she turned it into a real estate brokerage company and family beauty salon. It was a duo family empire built on hard work and knowledge. Both the Brokerage company and hair salon are still open for business seven days a week in Muskogee, Oklahoma where her grandmother and aunt service long-term clients. While Jassi loved doing hair, she didn’t see it as a career and instead went to college and obtained a bachelor’s degree only to later come back to her first love: Hair! Although Jassi keeps an updated license, she put more energy and focus into researching and providing the best quality hair extensions. The name Chateau Rideau was the name her grandmother had painted on the mailbox of the family’s 10k square foot home. Rideaux is the French spelling of the family’s last name.

How do you define success?
Success to me is the ability to be happy with what you have and the power to help others.
