Meet Jessica Jordan of Luxe Atelier by Jess

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Jordan.

Hi Jessica, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
For most of my adult life, I worked in corporate America in auto insurance claims. It was stable, structured, and taught me a great deal about people, problem solving, and professionalism, but creativity was always calling me in the background.
Beauty had been a passion of mine for over 25 years, and after spending nearly two decades in corporate, I made the decision to fully bet on myself and pursue cosmetology professionally. I became licensed at 40 years old, which was both exciting and humbling. Starting over later in life gave me a very different perspective on beauty and business. I didn’t enter the industry chasing trends or social media validation. I entered it with intention, life experience, and a genuine desire to help people feel confident and cared for.
Today, I specialize in hair color, extensions, and healthy hair across all textures. Over time, my work evolved beyond surface-level beauty. I became deeply interested in the connection between hair, health, stress, hormones, and overall wellbeing, which led me toward studying trichology as well.
Like many entrepreneurs, the journey hasn’t been linear. I’ve navigated personal challenges, economic shifts, rebuilding seasons, and the realities of growing a business in an industry that is constantly evolving. Those experiences pushed me to refine not only my skills, but also my vision.
That evolution is what inspired Luxe Atelier by Jess. I wanted my brand to reflect a more elevated, intentional experience. One centered around artistry, education, beauty, and real connection. I’m also expanding into digital education through beauty and hair wellness guides designed to help women better understand and care for themselves beyond the salon chair.
At this stage of my journey, I feel less focused on perfection and more focused on impact, authenticity, and creating work that truly aligns with who I’ve become.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road, but I think that’s true for most people building something meaningful.
One of the biggest challenges has been navigating reinvention later in life. After spending nearly two decades in corporate America, transitioning into the beauty industry professionally required a great deal of humility, discipline, and resilience. Starting over in a completely different field at 40 meant learning how to rebuild from the ground up while also finding my place in a very fast paced and highly competitive industry.
There have also been the normal realities that come with entrepreneurship such as economic slowdowns, inconsistent business periods, financial pressure, burnout, and the emotional weight of trying to grow while life continues happening around you. In the beauty industry specifically, I’ve seen firsthand how shifts in the economy directly impact both service providers and clients. Many people are forced to prioritize necessities before self-care, so adapting to those changes has been an important lesson.
On a personal level, I’ve also had to become more intentional about health and balance. Over time, I became increasingly aware of how stress, hormones, and overall wellness affect not only the body, but confidence and hair health as well. That realization ended up shaping my perspective as a beauty professional and deepening the way I approach client care.
At different points, I’ve had to pivot, reassess, and evolve rather than force things that no longer aligned. Looking back, I think those seasons taught me how to move with more purpose instead of just constantly pushing forward out of survival mode.
While the road hasn’t been easy, every challenge refined both my work and my vision for what I ultimately want Luxe Atelier by Jess to become.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Luxe Atelier by Jess ?
Luxe Atelier by Jess is a beauty brand centered around intentional beauty, healthy hair, and elevated client care. I specialize in hair color, extensions, and healthy hair services for all textures, with a strong focus on helping clients maintain the integrity of their hair while still achieving the look they want.
What sets my approach apart is that I don’t view beauty as purely cosmetic. I’m deeply interested in the connection between hair, health, stress, hormones, lifestyle, and confidence. Over time, I realized many women are struggling with issues that go far beyond styling.
Things like thinning, breakage, stress related shedding, hormonal changes, or simply feeling disconnected from themselves after major life transitions. That led me to begin pursuing education in trichology so I can better support clients from a more informed and holistic perspective.
I also think my background outside of beauty gives me a different lens. Before cosmetology, I spent nearly two decades in corporate claims handling, so professionalism, communication, organization, and problem-solving are naturally part of how I operate. My clients often tell me they appreciate not only the results, but also how seen, educated, and cared for they feel during the experience.
Brand wise, I’m most proud of the evolution behind Luxe Atelier by Jess. The brand represents growth, refinement, and stepping into a more aligned vision of what I want my work to embody. I wanted the brand to feel elevated and artistic, but also grounded, welcoming, and authentic. It reflects where I am now, not just professionally, but personally as well.
Beyond salon services, I’m also expanding into digital education through beauty and hair wellness guides designed to help women better understand and care for their hair outside of the salon environment. Education has become a very important part of my work because I believe empowered clients make healthier long-term decisions for themselves and their hair.
More than anything, I want people to know that Luxe Atelier by Jess is about more than aesthetics. It’s about helping people reconnect with confidence, feel cared for, and experience beauty in a way that feels intentional rather than performative.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is living and building with intention.
At this stage in my life, I value authenticity, peace, meaningful connection, and creating work that actually aligns with who I am rather than who I thought I was supposed to be. I spent many years doing what looked stable and practical on paper, and while I’m grateful for those experiences, I eventually realized how important it is to create a life that allows both purpose and creativity to exist together.
I care deeply about helping people feel seen, confident, and cared for in a genuine way. In the beauty industry, it’s easy for things to become transactional or overly focused on appearances, but I believe beauty experiences can be much more personal than that. Often, clients come in carrying stress, burnout, insecurity, major life changes, or emotional exhaustion, and sometimes the smallest acts of care and connection can have a deeper impact than people realize.
Health and balance have also become incredibly important to me over the years. Experiencing my own challenges with stress, hormonal changes, and overall wellness shifted my perspective on success. I no longer view success as simply staying busy or constantly pushing myself beyond my limits. I value sustainability, growth, peace of mind, and building something that can evolve with me over time.
Above all, I think what matters most is leaving people better than you found them. Whether that’s through my work, my presence, my education, or simply making someone feel more confident and understood when they leave my chair.
