Meet Jo Ann M. Allen of Mary Kay

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jo Ann M. Allen.

Hi Jo Ann M., we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was reared in a life full of struggle. My mom was murdered when I was 4 and I was raised by my grandmother. This grandmother was incredibly influenced by the men who served from the pulpit. That influence means that I was governed by influences outside my home. I grew up a big city girl, Phoenix, AZ. I was raised by a grandmother from Crockett, Texas! We were light years apart.

She did the best she could. I grew to be an incredibly independent woman. My independence brought so much adventure to my life. Many successes. Many failures. Many people. I am grateful for the steps along my journey.

Fast forward many years, I was a teller at the bank. I was so bored. I woke up one day and said…I AM GONNA JOIN THE ARMY. I was 23 years old. That was the beginning of the rest of my life.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?

No such think as luck, I totally believe God has expected greatness from me. He has taken me through so many things so that I can be a light for others. I am a vessel used unto him.

I listen and carry out the mission.
