Meet Kacie McCoy of Kacie McCoy, Realtor, Radius Group-Compass

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kacie McCoy.

Hi Kacie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am a native Texan, born and raised in Houston, but I got to Dallas as soon as possible. My childhood had lots of great features but also some not so great. I had a single mom, and my father wasn’t really a part of my life. While my mom was a hard worker and always told me I was going to go to college and would be independent, she was also an addict my whole life. So I grew up with a lot of insecurities and feelings of abandonment. I fortunately had some close family and amazing friends that helped out when she couldn’t. When she got remarried, I got the best parent I needed, as my stepdad. Despite my difficulties growing up, I have no doubt that with him in my life, and my strong friend group and their parents influence on me, it served as my example and motivation to pave my own way for my life. I graduated college from Texas A&M in College Station, then got married and we moved to Virginia for 3 years. As soon as the opportunity came along, we moved to Dallas in 1997. We chose to buy a home in McKinney, and this was when 121 was a two lane asphalt road! I have watched McKinney and Dallas grow around me. As a Respiratory Therapist since 1996, I worked in DFW in that capacity for about 20 years. It was a very rewarding career both because I loved what I was doing and mostly because I loved the patient relationships created. I worked both in the hospital setting and the physician office. Unfortunately I got divorced in 2002, but I was able to buy my own home in 2004 and lived there for over 10 years. I was loving my job but was really wanting to find a way to increase my earning potential. I was holding 3 jobs to keep things going for myself and my kids. I decided to sell my home and I hired a realtor recommended by a friend. She was so inspiring to me, and I’d been so intrigued and paid attention to all of the homes and neighborhoods developing in North Dallas for past 15 years, I decided to pursue my real estate license and see if I could make a go at it. I got my license, attended the best training, paid attention and did all the things suggested. After having my license for 4 months and overlapping with my full time job, I took the leap of faith and launched a full-time career in real estate, and I haven’t looked back. I still live in McKinney today, have two dogs, 2 adult children who live nearby and are working, purchased my 3rd home on my own in October and just got married to my best friend on April 5, 2025 and gained 3 bonus kids, all in college. To say I feel blessed is an understatement

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There have been tons of bumps in the road, from issues stemming from childhood affecting me as an adult, establishing boundaries once I had my own family, dealing with a divorce and subsequent financial challenges as a single parent, relationship issues, raising teenagers, handling 3 jobs, seeing .75 cents in my checking account on a Monday and hoping to make it to Friday. Where I got the courage to jump from a full time job to a 100% commission sales career, I’m not quite sure. But I had a calmness about it and an attitude that failure wasn’t an option. If Debbie could do it, so could I. One thing I had really learned a lot about was myself and my faith, and boy, did I have a lot of faith. I had spent the previous 10 years building my faith through various people, relationships and events in my life. I absolutely could not have done it without it. I still lean on it today and feel very blessed every step of the way.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a top producing realtor with The Radius Group at Compass. I co-founded this team with my partners Tracy Cavazos and Terri Phillips. We have two additional members Nikki Cannaday and Danni Williams who complete our amazing real estate team. I sell in all of DFW, and some east Texas and College Station. I also have connections in many other states, so I am able to help clients in other states if they are moving out of state or have friends and family out of state. I actively do open houses, keep up with market knowledge and education, and am currently ramping up my skills with reels and videos, increasing my marketing ability for my clients and my listings. I’ve sold homes, land, ranches, and do leases. I work with first time home buyers, veterans, luxury home buyers, tenants, landlords, investors and seasoned home buyers. I have been in business for over 11 years and love every minute of it. One of my favorite clients is the first time home buyer, only because I love leading a new buyer through the process and making it a little less daunting and scary for them. Leaving rent behind and creating equity through home ownership is an amazing experience and a great way to create wealth for yourself and potentially, future generations. I pride myself on amazing customer service, always putting my clients first, and being available to my clients. I can’t tell you how many times a potential client or another agent has thanked me for answering my phone. When you hire me, you also get the benefit of my whole team with our combined expertise, as we all put our eyes on each others listings, discuss marketing strategies unique to each home regularly, and we stage our listings together to ensure the very best online presentation. Any of our clients would attest that they felt the benefit of our entire team throughout their transaction. While I love the flexibility of my job, my family and friends would say that I work all of the time., you won’t catch me without my laptop for too long. I do my absolute best to maintain relationships with my clients because I want to be your realtor today, and in the future. The fact that over half of my business is referral attests to that. I love what I do and make my clients and their home goals my priority. I am so proud of the brand we have created together for our team. We promote all of our listings individually and collectively, casting a much wider net for potential reach. At Compass, we have the absolute best in making sure we are current on market news, rules, ethics and education to best prepare us to do the very best job for our clients. The tools available through Compass are amazing and unmatched. I love that I am able to take my business to the next level with the technology and education resources that are available to me.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I am so enamored with Dallas, I love the proximity to the middle of the country, halfway to either coast and far enough north. I am borderline on the cold temps here as I prefer the heat, but I certainly get that in the summer. I love the way the city is laid out, the culture and music opportunities here. My favorite thing is probably the unique neighborhoods all over DFW and surrounding with their individual homes, architecture, and local unique retail areas and offerings. I love visiting the local neighborhoods and local restaurants in each area. My least favorite thing has to be the traffic.
