Buffalo Property Inspections was founded in 2023 by Ian Warren and Lawrence Courtien, two friends from New York who became business partners and moved to Texas with a shared goal: to build a home inspection company that truly serves buyers, homeowners, and real estate professionals.
They chose the Dallas-Fort Worth area because it is a booming real estate market with strong growth, constant movement, and a real need for dependable, high-quality home inspection services. As a veteran-owned and operated company, Buffalo Property Inspections was built around integrity, clear communication, and reliable service.
Ian and Lawrence saw how overwhelming the home buying process can be, especially during the inspection period, and wanted to create a better experience from start to finish. From the beginning, their focus has been on combining thorough home inspections with modern convenience, including easy online scheduling, same-day digital reports whenever possible, flexible payment options, repair request tools, and helpful post-inspection resources like HomeBinder.
Since starting in 2023, Buffalo Property Inspections has grown through word of mouth, repeat agent relationships, online marketing, and the trust of clients throughout DFW. The company now has two additional inspectors working alongside Ian, a marketing director helping expand the brand, and is currently hiring a third inspector to increase its reach, availability, and capacity across the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it definitely has not been a perfectly smooth road, but every challenge has helped shape Buffalo Property Inspections into the company it is today.
A major learning experience has been getting the word out. Dallas-Fort Worth is a booming real estate market, but it is also full of established inspection companies. Ian and Lawrence quickly learned that being good at the work is only part of building a successful business. Marketing, relationship-building, brand awareness, and consistent follow-up are extremely important. Learning how to connect with agents, reach homebuyers, build trust online, and communicate the company’s value has been a huge part of the journey.
The road has come with challenges, but those challenges have pushed the company to improve. Today, Buffalo Property Inspections continues to grow by staying focused on quality, communication, and making the inspection process easier for clients and agents across DFW.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson we have learned is that running a successful home inspection company is about more than just performing a thorough inspection. It is about trust, communication, and creating a great experience for the client from start to finish.
When people are buying a home, they are often making one of the biggest financial decisions of their lives. They do not just need a report full of findings. They need someone who can explain the information clearly, help them understand what matters, and give them confidence as they move forward.
We have also learned how important relationships are. In a business like this, reputation matters. Every client interaction, every agent relationship, every report, and every follow-up call is an opportunity to build trust. That has shaped the way we approach our company, our team, and our brand.
