Today we’d like to introduce you to Kasey Bell.
Kasey, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have always been inspired by the arts. As a child, I spent my time crafting, painting, and creating. I attended the Fashion Institute for Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles and worked in visual merchandising for fashion retailers for ten years. While working in fashion, I spent my days dressing mannequins and managing creative teams; I spent my evenings attending yoga classes and working through personal reflection. I felt called to deepen my yoga practice and inner work so I attended yoga teacher training in 2013 at Dharma Yoga in Austin, TX.
In 2015, my husband and I moved to Fort Worth, TX and our first child was born. Shortly after, I let go of my fashion career and began teaching yoga full time. My yoga practice is what ignited my fascination in working with the energy body. I dived deeply into studying the chakras and the anatomy of the aura. Beyond yoga, I am called to work with multiple tools in the healing arts such as crystals, essential oils, meditation, and reiki. In 2017, I started studying Reiki with my teacher Jennifer Rydlinski of Wholistic Body Solutions. I completed my Reiki Master Teacher certification in 2018.
I am inspired and fascinated by the energy and the ways that our human experiences are reflected in our personal energetic field. I believe making the choice to heal oneself can be one of the most challenging and important ways we can spend our time in this life. Supporting people through the journey to their inner self is my highest calling.
You can find me at Indra’s Grace Yoga (Fort Worth location) offering weekly yoga classes, private energy healing sessions, healing workshops, and reiki certification trainings.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The most crucial component in facilitating healing space for others is holding the same healing space for myself. I must always stay close to my own inner work to inspire others. I cannot run from my shadow (the parts of yourself that you do not wish to face) or I will not be able to do this work. Much of my inner work has been learning to sit with uncomfortable feelings. There is so much that can be learned from the uncomfortable and uncovered parts of ourselves. Connecting with my inner self often leads me back to one of my favorite poems:
The Guest House by Rumi
This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes.
As an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
Please tell us more about your story. What do you do, what do you specialize in? What sets you apart from others?
I teach yoga that incorporates practices for turning inward. Through sensory meditation, body awareness, and personal reflection, the students in my classes begin to unlock the intuition living in their body and ultimately connect with their Higher Self.
In my private energy healing sessions, I create a safe space for my clients to go inward. I do this by guiding clients into deep relaxation with meditation, reiki energy, and therapeutic presence. This work reminds me of a quote by Maryam Hasnaa, “A healer does not heal you. A healer is someone who holds space for you while you awaken your inner healer so that you may heal yourself.” In order to awaken your inner healer, you must feel safe enough to let down your guard and access the unconscious parts of yourself.
I am most proud of my students and clients who commit to their inner healing process. Inner healing requires vulnerability, courage, and strength. The honor of witnessing their process inspires me to continue on my journey through my own inner work.
What sets me apart from others?…. In a way, I am not much different from other healers in that I create a safe space for you to navigate your inner work. However, I do believe that when choosing a teacher or energy healing practitioner it is important to feel a connection with that person. My ability to relate and connect with my clients is an energetic exchange that only I can offer. I am aware that my work is not for everyone and yet I am grateful for those who feel called to allow me to hold space for their healing journey.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
There is not much I would have done differently. I respect the organic process that has led me here. Becoming an energy healer was never part of my “plan”. At this point in my career, I was supposed to be a fashion executive. I’m so glad I was led down a completely different path. Every step and every lesson along the way has led me to a place I never expected possible and for that, I am grateful to all my experiences.
If I could change one thing I would have reminded myself to trust the process and trust my personal intuition more through my journey. As I look back, I recognize that by second-guessing my gut instincts I have been swept up in heartache and mental frustration more often than I would have wanted. However, I am offering myself forgiveness and I am allowing trust in myself to be more deeply ingrained in how I make my future steps.
