Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendra C. Sikes.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I come from a cycle of poverty and I was determined to break that cycle. As a little girl I would play dress up and I would always dress up as ‘The Business Woman” so the calling of success whispered my name at the age of 12. Many obstacles tried to hinder my success growing up such as “Low self-esteem, Abuse, dependency, substance abuse and self-hatred but through faith and GOD, I was able to break through those strongholds. I began to get tired of the way I was living and I went back to those moments a little girl knowing life had so much more for me but I just needed to take action.
I have always been an encourager and inspiration to many due to my wisdom and one day a light bulb went off in my head saying “Hey I should start a business” but was not sure what kind to start. I wrote my first book and many were asking me to assist them in their very own book so I gave birth to B&B Publishing Co. and within 5 months grew tremendously. I had success so I decided to give birth to two sister companies G.B.A Firm a boutique PR Agency.
Garbed In Modesty Magazine. I have always been keen to fashion and media. Garbed In Modesty Magazine is a faith-based fashion magazine shining the light on modest fashion around the world. I am on a mission to encourage many women by being an example that your past does not determine your future.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to success in my life was quite bumpy. I did not have the pleasure of a smooth road. I have had many obstacles to this journey. Doubt, fear, anxiety and procrastination. I can say as a womanpreneur there were many nights I wanted to give up and stop everything. Now looking back over every bump in the road and struggle I can say it gave me strength and the courage needed to pour into the woman I consult in my business.
B&B Publishing Co./Garbed In Modesty Magazine – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I have a publishing company that specializes in assisting those with powerful stories and wisdom have a voice through book or publication form whether it’s through autobiography, fashion, poetry, fiction stories, non-fiction stories, business tips, inspiration, journalism & more.
I am known for being the midwife to those needing to give birth to those who want to write. I developed the name “Kendra C. Sikes “The Bookologost” What sets me apart from other publishers is I am more connected to the story than the payment from the client. If they have something that will be a light to others, it is my duty to help them get it out.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career is with little to no experience within 6 months I am on my way to publishing 2 publications and 20 Authors and majority of my clients are by word of mouth. That thus far is the proudest moment in my career.
