Meet Kim Winters-Webb of Kim Renee Salon in Plano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kim Winters-Webb.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Kim. Kick things off for us – where does this story start?
I have been behind the chair for a little over 20 years…Doing hair has been my “dream job” ever since I was a little girl. I use to curl my sister and cousins hair and always thought they looked way better after I did it! 🙂

My first hair stylist job was working in the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, Tn. Was always really cool to see “famous” people in and out of the salon and in the hotel lobby… I met a client/friend there who I ended up moving to Dallas with in 1998. So at 24 years old, I packed up a 24 ft. Ryder truck and hooked up my car on the back and drove that thing from Memphis to Dallas all by myself. People like to ask me how I got to Dallas and seem to love that story….I was DETERMINED to move to a big City and be a successful Stylist. And I did. I worked for Toni & Guy for 4 years where I got my education and was ready to move out on my own in May of 2002. I started my own business in Frisco and have since moved to Plano. I have also since become an educator/platform artist for Brazilian Blowout! Which is my new love for the past 7 years. I enjoy traveling all over Texas and Oklahoma training stylists on not only how to perform these but to make them also very successful at it!

My salon is located in central/west Plano right off the tollway which is a great location….
at any given time you will find my clients sipping on wine or mimosas and just having some good conversation.

My job truly isn’t a “job”. I always look forward to coming to work and absolutely love what I do. I consider myself very lucky 🙂

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Actually has been a pretty smooth road. I have to say when I teach a Brazilian Blowout class the public speaking has been brutal. Haha….I’m not sure if that fear ever goes away but after the first 5 minutes I seem to be fine!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about a little more about your business – what should we know?
I am a hairstylist.

I specialize in Brazilian Blowouts, color and cut, I am a b3 Brazilian bond builder color specialist which means I use this bond builder in all of my colors….which I believe as a colorist sets me apart from my competitors. It protects the hair from damage while repairing existing damage as well. As a result my clients have much healthier hair than ever before.

I have owned my own business for 14 years now and have never advertised. So to be this successful at this point says a lot about myself and my business. I am very proud of what I have accomplished

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
One quality that I have that I feel has been important to my success is the fact that I really do LOVE my job. I love meeting new people…I love seeing the look on someone’s face when I have made them look and or feel beautiful or the way they say OMG when they touch and feel their hair after a Brazilian Blowout….or the text I get after when someone tells me how much they just LOVE their hair and scored a “date night” with their husband!!!! Lol……That is what keeps me going.
