Today we’d like to introduce you to Lee Ann Lage.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Though I contemplated several different career paths, I knew making people feel beautiful inside and out is what I had a passion for. After completing cosmetology school, I went to work with Shelton Ogle, creator of Ogle Beauty School. I also met Horst M. Rechelbacher, creator of Intelligent Nutrients and Aveda. They both inspired me to find the cleanest and most beautifully pigmented products. Today, I provide the best organic products and holistic services to my clients.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The bumps along the way have been more behind-the-scenes, business oriented than a creative struggle. I had to understand how to run the business just by doing it, then learning I could not do it all myself. I discovered my strengths and weaknesses, and found help where I needed it. I suggest a great bookkeeper for any left brain entrepreneur.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
Rocket Science is known for using organic clean products and providing excellent service to our clients. I love big blonde Texas hair, always have, but I’m not afraid to do something more unstructured like a looser pixie cut or a purple balayage. Also, finding small, independent companies that are making a positive change in the industry. I seek like-minded local artist and craftsman with integrity in their work to sell their goods in the salon. Most importantly, I can confidently say Rocket Science is a place clients can come and know they will be relaxed, comfortable, and well taken care of.
Who else deserves credit?
My husband, John, is the ‘head of engineering and maintenance,’ though on a more serious note has always been very supportive. It is always good to have someone look out for the little things; whether it is a leak in the faucet, or the water heater breaking, John always knew how to fix it or find the resources to. The next person is my first apprentice, Sarah, who has turned into a manager, a best friend, and who I can look to bounce ideas. She is a classic example of the student becoming the teacher. These two have consistently been there throughout the years, yet there have been so many other people. Working in a creatively-driven industry allows learning to be contagious, almost everyone I have worked for or with has touched me in some way.

Words cannot express how great this salon is. They are all truly transformational I have gone to LeAnn for over 20 years but do not hesitate to use any of the able. Bodied and talented stylists at RS. In fact, the entire family has gone to RS. It has been a wonderful experience to find people you can trust professionally and still become friends as well. An intimate and satisfying place to luxuriate!!!
