Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My Journey of Faith, Perseverance, and Purpose
I am originally from South India, from a small village called Podiyattuvila in the Kollam district of Kerala. I grew up in a humble community with limited opportunities and few expectations for the future. Despite these challenges, I always dreamed of achieving something meaningful in life. As a child, I wanted to become a doctor, but due to significant financial hardships and family responsibilities, my parents could not afford to send me to even for higher studies.
Instead, I was encouraged to pursue nursing. Although it was not my original dream, I accepted the challenge and committed myself to doing my best. During my first year of nursing school, I experienced one of the most difficult periods of my life when I lost my father. His passing left me feeling hopeless and uncertain about my future. I struggled financially and often wondered how I would continue my education.
Through those difficult times, my faith in God became my source of strength. I trusted Him to guide my path and provide for my needs. By God’s grace, I persevered and graduated in 2001 with a Diploma in General Nursing.
Three months after graduation, while searching for employment opportunities, I came across a newspaper advertisement recruiting nurses for the United States. Unsure of what the future held, I attended the interview and examination. I performed exceptionally well, and the recruitment team from All About Staffing was impressed with my interview and test scores. They encouraged and supported me as I prepared for the CGFNS, TOEFL, and TSE examinations. Within a year, I successfully passed all of them. After graduating from nursing school in 2001, I began my professional nursing career at Escorts Heart Institute in New Delhi, India, where I worked in the Critical Care Cardiothoracic Unit for nearly two years. This experience provided me with a strong clinical foundation in caring for critically ill cardiac and surgical patients. Working in a highly specialized healthcare environment strengthened my clinical skills, critical thinking, and confidence as a young nurse. It was during this period that I gained valuable experience and developed a passion for delivering high-quality patient care.
In March 2005, I arrived in the United States, beginning a new chapter in my life. Shortly after arriving in Florida, I took the NCLEX-RN examination and passed on my first attempt. I secured a position at Aventura Hospital, where my professional nursing career truly began. Over the years, I advanced from a staff nurse to a charge nurse and later into nursing informatics. Each role provided valuable experiences that strengthened my clinical knowledge, leadership abilities, and passion for healthcare.
In 2007, I relocated to Texas and continued pursuing higher education while working full-time as a registered nurse. I earned my Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and an additional MSN in Nursing Education. Driven by a desire to provide direct patient care at a higher level, I continued my academic journey and became a Family Nurse Practitioner. Later, I completed my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of caring for patients with a wide range of healthcare needs across various clinical settings. I take great pride in my ability to provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care for both simple and complex health conditions.
After more than 16 years of experience in critical care, leadership, management, and healthcare administration, and following my transition into advanced practice nursing, I felt called to create a healthcare practice focused on individualized, compassionate care for underserved communities. This vision led me to establish Alegria Family Clinic, where I strive to provide exceptional healthcare experiences while improving access to quality medical services. I later expanded my services through Alegria Med Spa, allowing me to help patients achieve wellness and confidence through aesthetic and preventive healthcare services.
As a healthcare professional and entrepreneur, I have found tremendous fulfillment in serving others. I enjoy my roles as a provider, nurse leader, mentor, educator, and preceptor. I am proud of my accomplishments as a nurse practitioner and grateful for the opportunities to share my knowledge and experience with patients, families, and future healthcare professionals.
In addition to my academic achievements, I have earned certifications in Bioidentical Hormone Therapy, Functional Medicine, and various specialties within the aesthetic medicine industry. These accomplishments have allowed me to broaden the scope of services I offer and better meet the needs of my patients.
Above all, I give glory to God for every achievement in my life. Through every challenge, disappointment, success, and milestone, He has been my strength, guide, and provider. I have learned to seek Him in prayer and trust His plan, even when the path ahead seemed uncertain. Jesus Christ is my Redeemer and Savior, and I proudly proclaim His goodness every day of my life.
My journey is a testimony that faith, perseverance, hard work, and God’s grace can transform even the most difficult circumstances into opportunities for purpose and success.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it has not been a smooth road. My journey has been filled with challenges, setbacks, and sacrifices. I grew up in a small village in South India with limited resources and opportunities. Although I dreamed of becoming a doctor, my family’s financial situation made that impossible. Even attending nursing school was a struggle because my parents could not afford the tuition expenses.
One of the most difficult moments in my life was losing my father during my first year of nursing school. His passing brought emotional pain, financial hardship, and uncertainty about my future. There were times when I questioned how I would continue my education, but I remained committed to my goals and relied heavily on my faith in God.
After graduation, I faced the challenges of building a career while preparing for the rigorous examinations required to work in the United States, including the CGFNS, TOEFL, and TSE. Moving to a new country was another major adjustment. I had to adapt to a different culture, healthcare system, and way of life while proving myself professionally.
As I continued my education in the United States, I balanced full-time work, family responsibilities, and graduate studies. Earning multiple advanced degrees, including my MSN, Family Nurse Practitioner certification, and Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, required tremendous discipline and perseverance.
Starting my own healthcare practice brought a new set of challenges. Building a successful clinic required financial risk, long hours, leadership, and determination. Like many entrepreneurs, I faced obstacles and uncertainties, but I remained focused on my mission of serving patients and improving healthcare access for underserved communities.
Looking back, every challenge helped shape who I am today. The struggles taught me resilience, strengthened my faith, and reminded me that success is not measured by the absence of obstacles but by the determination to keep moving forward despite them.

Alegria Family Clinic and Alegria Med Spa are more than healthcare businesses to me—they are ministries. While healthcare is my profession, serving people is my calling. Throughout my life, I have experienced God’s faithfulness through many challenges, and I believe He has entrusted me with the opportunity to care for others physically, emotionally, and spiritually through the work we do every day.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I do not view my journey through the lens of luck. Instead, I see God’s hand guiding me through every challenge, opportunity, and season of growth. Throughout my career and ministry, I have encountered many situations that tested me emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
As a healthcare provider, I have cared for patients experiencing severe emotional distress, suicidal thoughts, depression, anxiety, trauma, and crisis situations. There have been times when patients came into my clinic feeling hopeless and overwhelmed, unsure if they wanted to continue living. Through compassionate care, listening, encouragement, appropriate medical intervention, and God’s grace, I have witnessed many of these individuals regain hope and find a renewed purpose in life. Some of these encounters have left a lasting impact on me and reinforced why I believe healthcare is a ministry rather than simply a profession.
There were moments when I found myself thinking, “Is this a family clinic or a mental health clinic?” because so many patients were carrying deep emotional wounds in addition to their physical health concerns. These experiences taught me that true healing often involves addressing the whole person—body, mind, and spirit. Many people are not only seeking medical treatment; they are seeking hope, compassion, understanding, and someone who genuinely cares.
Throughout my years in nursing and healthcare, I have also cared for critically ill patients, performed CPR, witnessed life-and-death situations, and supported families through unimaginable circumstances. These experiences have strengthened my faith and reminded me daily that God is the ultimate healer. I am simply grateful to be used as His instrument to serve others.
Alegria Family Clinic has grown through faith, perseverance, and God’s provision. Alegria Med Spa is still in a season of growth and development. Like any business, there have been challenges, uncertainties, and moments when the future was not clear. However, I continue to move forward by faith, holding God’s hand and trusting His timing and direction. I firmly believe that if He planted this vision in my heart, He will continue to guide its growth and purpose.
When I look back on my life—from a small village in South India to becoming a healthcare provider, educator, entrepreneur, and community leader in the United States—I do not see luck. I see a journey marked by God’s faithfulness. Every challenge has strengthened my character, every obstacle has deepened my faith, and every success has reminded me that all glory belongs to Him.
