Meet Letara Alford of Letara’s In Home Designs

Today we’d like to introduce you to Letara Alford.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Letara. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, growing up, I was always known for having many talents, but there was a secret struggle I faced on a daily basis that would hinder me from truly becoming the businesswoman I am today. And as long as I remained in a place that was familiar, I would’ve never discovered my hidden potential beyond that struggle.

So, in 2008, after visiting a family member in Texas, I decided to relocate. There was just something about Texas that was drawing me. I found that It offered opportunities for both personal and professional growth. However, that secret struggle that I faced growing up in Philly, never left. In fact, I learned how to survive in spite of that struggle. I surrounded myself with a few key people, who would speak into my life and help me along the way. They would teach me things I needed to know about life and about business.

However, after many years of dealing with that struggle secretly, I made the decision to face it head-on. This meant, that I would need to research the symptoms I was experiencing to find out exactly how to counteract it. In short, I was diagnosed with Dyslexia. After learning this news, I enrolled in classes that would help me to improve my reading and writing. This was quite an eye-opener for me. It all started to make sense why there were some words that were more difficult to read and write than others. But it also helped to reveal who I was and how powerful I could become on the other side of this struggle. It was also comforting to know that I was not alone. There were other people in the class with me who were leaders and business owners in their own right. So, since this experience, I have not looked back.

In many ways, it felt like Dyslexia was working against me. But the paradigm happened when I actually discovered ways that it worked for me. Because of it, I have a special knack for organization and beautifying anything I touch. So by God’s grace, I turned my talent and passion for beauty into what is now called, Letara’s In-Home Designs.

Letara’s In-Home Designs is a new interior design company launched in the spring of 2019. LIHD serves both commercial and residential clients and meets all of your interior design needs. LIHD also offers professional organizing and staging decor.

Ever since I took the leap of faith to launch, the business has been growing and clients have not gone unsatisfied. As a result, I can truly confess that although the journey has been tough, it has been extremely rewarding, to say the least.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As previously mentioned, a major obstacle standing in the way of growth is the fact that I have had to deal with Dyslexia. However, with the help of God, friends, family, and technology, I have learned ways to combat the struggle by improving my reading and writing skills and not allowing it to stop me from moving forward.

What sets my design company apart from others is that I provide a personal touch. After your initial free consultation with me, not only do I learn your desired look for your home or business, but I also learn more about you as a person, which allows me to help bring the type of life to a room that would make you feel like you never want to leave it!

Organizing is my specialty, beauty is my passion and a satisfied customer is what pushes me to continue on.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I understand that things happen in their time, but if I had known then who I was, I would’ve never allowed fear to stand in my way. There were so many blessings and opportunities lurking on the other side of fear, that I never even knew existed. But I always knew that there was something more than I had to offer.
