Today we’d like to introduce you to Mara Davidson.
Mara, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was raised in a small Texas independent restaurant and quickly learned the in’s and out’s of personalized customer service as much of our business was repeat. Entering college, I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to do, so I fell into a few hospitality classes which grew my passion for event management.
I finished school in downtown Chicago because there were few 4-year programs within the US in Event Management. Upon graduation I started my career in events with a major hotel company, moving to smaller companies and then decided I wanted to spend more time with clients reaching their personal and professional goals through event management. In 2015 I had a little girl and decided to seize the day with more personalized service. Lemon Meetings + Events was born and we have been rocking and rolling ever since. We do not operate in bulk, meaning we are very cautious and selective with what clients/events we take on. We are a small team that spends quality time ensuring all details are completed successfully. Big, small, grand or simple, let Lemon make it an unforgettable event and experience.
Has it been a smooth road?
A few months after opening our doors, we considered a partner that didn’t work out and that was a struggle transitioning out the relationship. Learning your target client/market is also a growing pain, but we have nailed it down pretty quickly!

Lemon is a full service, boutique event management company. We break events/meetings down into 3 phases: site selection, detailing/marketing, execution. Some clients use us for some or all of those phases. We are known for providing the best experience, not just for our clients but for their attendees.
We recently won ‘Best Event Planner’ by Fort Worth Magazine and were in total shock as this was a vote by the city.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Our city is flooded with event planners and management companies so maybe not the best to open a new one (wink wink). If someone wants a great shot at any profession I’d encourage DFW. There are endless opportunities, cost of living is great and there are tons to explore.
