Meet Maribel Faucett of Minds In Action Counseling

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maribel Faucett .

Maribel Faucett

Hi Maribel , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
After divesting my share of a group practice I helped establish in Edinburg, TX, I relocated to Plano, TX in 2015 with a desire for a life adjustment. Here, I launched my own solo practice, specializing in serving children, adolescents, and a few adults through Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Play Therapy methodologies. During this time I invested time specializing further by attending Continuing Education trainings, and supervising LPC-Associates.

Some of my LPC-Associates, chose to remain with the practice upon completing their Board requirements, while others professionals joined as the practice experienced rapid growth. We embarked on expanding our service offerings and adding members to our team to effectively meet the needs of our expanding client base.

Today, Minds In Action Counseling can count on a proficient team of 12 professionals. Additionally, we proudly serve as a Master Level Student Intern site for Southern Adventist University and an undergraduate level student intern site for The University of Texas-Dallas.

Expanding our services and team at Minds In Action Counseling has afforded each member the opportunity to delve deeper into their own interests and specialize in their preferred areas. My aim is to cultivate an environment where therapists can pursue their passions while serving their chosen populations and employing their preferred therapeutic modalities.

As my own professional journey has progressed, I’ve observed the interconnected needs within families. Treating children highlighted the necessity for supporting their parents, and as I began providing individual counseling to parents, I recognized how their relationship dynamics directly influenced their children. This realization prompted a shift in my focus towards incorporating the Gottman Method for couples counseling and becoming a Certified EMDR Therapist to address trauma processing effectively.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One challenge I encountered was navigating the learning curve associated with expanding a private practice. Managing a solo practice is generally more straightforward, but as the team grew, the challenge shifted to balancing multiple responsibilities and effectively delegating tasks both within and outside of the practice.

I firmly believe in the principle of continuous improvement and avoiding the need to “reinvent the wheel.” To facilitate the rapid growth of a bustling counseling practice, I actively pursue mentorship and consulting opportunities to gain valuable guidance and insights.

Another challenge we’ve encountered involves establishing our Biosound Therapy System within the local mental health community. As pioneers in the area, we faced the hurdle of introducing an innovative modality without any existing knowledge or context. We remain dedicated to educating other providers and the community about the advantages of integrating Biosound Therapy alongside more established or traditional approaches. We hope our efforts pay off and more Clinicians and clients come out to try it!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Minds In Action Counseling?
