Meet Mario Herrera of The Herrera Foundation in DFW

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mario Herrera.

Mario, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
The Herrera Foundation was created to help aspiring entrepreneurs and those who have that gut feeling that they could be doing more, but don’t know where to start. You sometimes don’t realize you have that entrepreneurial trait in you until it is too late. You have rent or mortgage to pay along with all of the other bills most people have by a certain age. Even though you can become an entrepreneur at any age, we focus more on those who are still in high school trying to figure out what they want to do. This gives them the advantage over everyone else because they may still live at home with their parents and have the financial stability to go out into the world and take risk. The information the Herrera Foundation provides is information about what it takes to be successful. We interview entrepreneurs at the beginning stages of their journey all the way to veteran entrepreneurs who have been out of the 9-5 routine for quite some time.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like all foundations, it is always rocky at the start when you first launch. Being organized is the key to success along with time management. The only struggle would be getting the name out into the community. The most popular foundations are well known because of all of the marketing dollars behind it. As we continue to grow and spread our message into the different communities, we hope to have the support of each community member by sharing our social media, word of mouth, donations, feedback, and moral support. It takes a village to raise a child, we can be that village.

The Herrera Foundation – what should we know? What do you do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We will be known for helping young entrepreneurs establish themselves in the world. Without the right guidance, failure is a for sure thing. Most millennials have no interest in working a regular job, they want to be creative and invent new things. Which is why we are here to help.

What I am most proud of is that even though there are a lot of things going on in the world, the Herrera Foundation was still created regardless of what state the world is in. We will slowly grow throughout the years and have a footprint in people’s journeys to freedom.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
I’m a 1st generation entrepreneur, so I would say the proudest moment had to be once everything went live. The website and social media accounts, the feeling of starting this to help others would make anyone proud. It is not only a good feeling, you know you will potentially change someone’s life one day.
