Meet Nick Surguine

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick Surguine.

Nick, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I graduated with honors from a small, Christian, liberal arts college in Indiana in 2006. Later that year I obtained my first job, working for a large bank, in Dallas, Texas. Over the next nine years, I made several moves within the bank, learning new and different aspects of the business, and eventually completing my time at the bank as an Associate and Auditor for my department.

Then, in 2015, after my department was to be relocated as a part of some restructuring within the bank, I decided it was time for a change. So, after talking with some friends who were in real estate, I decided that the field was a good fit for what I was looking to do. I loved the idea of helping people through what could be a very difficult and stressful time too, instead, get to enjoy the process of buying a home. I am a details guy, which was fine-tuned through my years working in finance, so it worked well for me to use those skills to help my clients navigate through the many contracts and forms needed in a real estate transaction.

As I look back on my years as a REALTOR® so far, I believe it has been a wonderful fit for me. My career as an agent affords me many opportunities to challenge myself and to learn new things, which I love, and which also serves to help my clients.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Starting out, it was hard to get traction. Building a business from nothing meant seeking out clients among friends and family, and getting people to trust me. There were many months where little to no money came in, and that could be discouraging. But thanks to the help of a mentor, I pressed on, doing what I knew was good, and knowing that it would pay off in time. Sure enough, over these last four years, I found myself slowly but steadily adding to my clientele and closings.

I also think my faith has greatly helped me to endure in times of difficulty, knowing that God would meet the needs of me and my family. And while He has done so, I am reminded even today, that there may be months of plenty and months of little, but He sustains me through it all.

Alright – so let’s talk business. What else should we know about your work?
I love working with all types of folks, on both the buying and selling side. But if I had a niche, I would say that I especially enjoy helping first time home buyers. This segment of the market is exciting because I get to be a resource to those who have likely never made such a significant financial decision before. And I believe I can bring a lot of value to that relationship, and be a guide through the process.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t believe much in luck, so I cannot say it’s played much of a role. I really think any good gifts that have led me to where I am today, have come from God.
