Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Walker, Esq.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Epsilon Tau Chapter of Iota Phi Lambda was chartered into DeSoto Texas in 2013. We strive to support business and professional women to excel in the workplace and in their own businesses. Epsilon Tau also promotes increased interest in the broad field of business education among high school and college young women through planned programs and scholarships. We equip business and professional women for excellence in the workplace and in their own businesses through service.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nothing this great comes easy! Our great sorority was founded on June 1, 1929, by Lola Mercedes Parker. The founding of the sorority was important for African American women as after World War I there was the “Great Migration” of blacks from the South to the Northern cities, seeking greater opportunities.

Iota Phi Lambda Sorority Inc. (ΙΦΛ) is the first African American Greek-lettered business sorority established by African American businesswomen. There are now more than 100 chapters with membership numbering more than 5,000 in 85 cities and the US Virgin Islands and we are still growing!

Epsilon Tau unites in sisterhood, qualified business and professional women in order to enhance and improve the status of women in our highly complex, competitive business and professional world. That is what we’re most proud of. We are unique because we are the only Greek organization with a specific focus on uniting women in business.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Nothing! We’ll keep every bump and bruise as we continue to forge forward in uniting and encouraging women in the field of business.
