Omari, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
In short, Good Vibes Only is commonly used to describe a positive way of living, to ultimately live and achieve The Good Life. The DJ FLYY brand believes that everything in your life should consist of Good Vibes Only – thus positivity being the key to living a positive life. Music is one of the many sources that bring good vibes to people. I started my DJ profession back in 2015 as a side hustle to make money to help my grandparents raise me. Over time, I began to see the impact and influence that music has over a person’s character and emotions.
Over the past five years, I have utilized my DJ skills at college events, weddings and company events to promote good energy and offer a simple break from life issues. The foundation of my dj career began in Greensboro, North Carolina, where I attended North Carolina A&T State University. My institution promotes a culture of creativity and tenacity, which has molded the most brilliant, most fashionable, and most inventive minds I have ever come across. In 2019, I moved to Dallas and began connecting with the greatest DJs in Dallas. They have shown me that each DJ has their own unique trait about them and that’s what will make them profitable. Through my DJ sets, my ultimate goal is to spread positive vibes to all people, especially during this quarantine and other political situations. Through IG Live, I was able to impact 100+ lives from the comfort of my room through hip hop and r&b. This year I decided to go a step further and create “Good Vibes Only” clothing, which would act as a symbol of myself and my brand. As orders began to pour in, I decided to create a scholarship for the next young black leader to go to college and find their purpose. I am blessed to have this gift and it is my pleasure to share it with the people around me. For those who tune in to my dj sets, I appreciate you. Continue to spread good vibes… Good Vibes Only
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The road to becoming the best DJ is not easy. There is plenty of competition around me that I have to get past first. The craft is very difficult to master and pay for. The main struggle I faced when I first started was paying for the equipment since I was in school and was not working. Through the kind acts of family and friends, I was able to obtain the equipment necessary for me to DJ.

My company is encompassed around music and promoting good energy. Music should make you feel good and should make you want to do good unto others.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is not defined by how much I can do for myself but how much I can do for others. If I can impact another person’s life through a selfless act or through good music, then my success has been achieved.
