Today we’d like to introduce you to Patricia Aro.
Hi Patricia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Event planning has been part of my story for as long as I can remember. When I was eight years old, I would cut photos out of wedding magazines, save inspiration images on my computer, and send my mom what was essentially a weekly newsletter about my future wedding. Long before Pinterest existed, I was already curating event inspiration and dreaming about creating memorable experiences for people.
That passion followed me through high school and college. As President of my high school’s Student Council Association, I planned large community events, and later at The College of William & Mary, I served as a Lead Events Coordinator for various student organizations, planning leadership conferences, fundraising galas, and campus-wide events. I graduated with a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing, which gave me a strong foundation in both strategy and creative execution.
My professional career in events began in Washington, D.C. in 2014, where I worked as a Marketing Manager and Associate Planner for Simply Breathe Events. That experience solidified what I had known since I was a child, that this was exactly what I was meant to do.
In 2019, I relocated to Florida’s Gulf Coast and founded Your Plan A Events. Since then, I’ve had the privilege of planning, designing, and executing hundreds of destination weddings and special events. What I love most is that no two celebrations are the same. Every client has a unique story, and I get to help bring that story to life in a meaningful way.
Today, I split my time between the East Coast of the United States and eastern Sicily, Italy, which has given me the opportunity to work with clients from around the world while continuing to grow a business centered on thoughtful planning, exceptional hospitality, and creating experiences that people remember long after the event is over.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I feel very fortunate because the journey has felt surprisingly natural and aligned. Event planning was something I knew I wanted to do from a very young age, so I never felt like I was searching for my path, it always felt clear to me.
That doesn’t mean there haven’t been challenges. Like any business owner, I’ve had to navigate building a company from the ground up, adapting through changing markets and the COVID pandemic, relocating internationally, and balancing growth while maintaining the level of service and personal attention that our clients deserve & expect.
However, I’ve always viewed those moments as opportunities to learn rather than obstacles. Because I genuinely love what I do, even the more difficult seasons have felt worthwhile. Looking back, I wouldn’t describe the road as difficult so much as constantly evolving. Each event has its own unique challenges which have helped me become a better planner, business owner, and leader.
Overall, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to build a career around something I’ve been passionate about since childhood, and that passion continues to make the work feel extremely rewarding every day. I love seeing the effect of our work come through in events that will be remembered and cherished for a lifetime to come.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Your Plan A Events?
While we plan a wide variety of events, weddings are at the heart of what we do. We are known for blending meticulous organization with personalized design, ensuring every event reflects the people at the center of it. Whether we’re coordinating an intimate destination wedding, a large-scale celebration, or a multi-day wedding weekend, our goal is always the same: to create an experience that feels authentic, meaningful, and seamless from beginning to end.
What sets us apart is our approach to partnership. We don’t believe in one-size-fits-all planning. Every client receives a highly customized experience, and we take the time to truly understand their priorities, personalities, and vision. We are often told that our calm presence, attention to detail, and proactive communication allow clients to enjoy the planning process rather than feel overwhelmed by it. Our vendors feel like the absolute perfect match for each of the couples we bring to them.
As a company, we’re especially proud of the relationships we’ve built. With our clients, vendor partners, and venues alike. Many of our bookings come through referrals, which is one of the greatest compliments we can receive. It tells us that the experience we create extends beyond beautiful events and into lasting trust.
Today, Your Plan A Events serves clients across the United States and internationally, with our team working from both the U.S. and Sicily, Italy. No matter where an event takes place, our mission remains the same: to provide a level of care, professionalism, and hospitality that allows our clients to be fully present for some of the most important moments of their lives.
If there’s one thing we want readers to know about our brand, it’s that we genuinely care. Behind every timeline, floor plan, and design board is a team that is deeply invested in creating celebrations that feel joyful, intentional, and uniquely you.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
I would say the quality that has contributed most to my success is genuinely caring about people.
Event planning is often viewed as a logistics-driven industry, but at its core, it’s a people business. Every event represents a meaningful milestone, and I never lose sight of the trust clients place in us during those moments. I care deeply about creating an experience that allows them to feel supported, understood, and fully present throughout the process.
That mindset influences everything we do. From communication and problem-solving to guest experience and vendor relationships. When you lead with care, people feel it. It builds trust, strengthens relationships, and ultimately leads to better events.
I also believe that combining that level of care with strong organization and attention to detail is what allows our team to consistently deliver exceptional results. The logistics matter, the design matters, but people always come first.
