Today we’d like to introduce you to Quincy Thompson.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
Well, I’ve been performing for as long as I can remember. Mostly known for dancing in my neighborhood I kept my singing low-key… but at the age of 12, I believe, I entered my very first talent show and won it and the rest, as they say, is history… pretty much after that I entered every talent show or showcase I would hear about winning most of them if they were judged. Over that time, I studied all the greats and any and everything that piqued my interest… I set out to not only accomplish my dreams but inspire as many as I can along the way
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Easssyyyy…easy?? lol… I wouldn’t say my journey’s been hard because I come from a place where many don’t make it out of. But if you were to hear my story, you would probably feel that the road I’ve traveled was pretty rough. From losing close friends… to close family members… the sudden death of my father… being diagnosed with Diabetes… then watching my mom fight for her life leaving her mentally unstable… but that’s life, huh… you have to keep pushing through it all.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Well, I’m a recording artist… I sing and write songs but over the last couple of years, I’ve been focused more on writing for other artists here in the U.S. as well as overseas. I’ve had some great success but I’m looking forward to really getting my name out in the world. My genre is R&B(rhythm and blues) as well as Pop but I dabble in just about all genres. I love music… it speaks like no other language… I’m just happy and fortunate that I get to wake up every day and create. A few years ago, I had a 9-5 that really wasn’t working for me… I decided to walk away and I haven’t looked back since… I take pride in the fact that I can say I work for myself. What sets me apart from others is my desire to keep learning… I find with success and accomplishments people end up being content and satisfied… as for me, I’m always looking to grow.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t really think good or bad luck has any role… I was once told luck was when preparation meets opportunity. So, for the most part, I always put myself in a position to be successful but also keeping in mind that there will be obstacles and even hurdles I have to jump… I mean who wants to be rewarded for taking the easy route…? Not me.
