Meet Rondregus Underwood of iAmMrU.com

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rondregus Underwood.

Hi Rondregus, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My story began long before I ever stepped onto a stage, produced a fashion show, or became a speaker. At seven years old, I entered the foster care system and spent the rest of my childhood navigating uncertainty, instability, and the challenges that come with growing up without a permanent family. I aged out of foster care at eighteen without being adopted, carrying with me both deep wounds and a determination to create a different future.

For many years, I searched for my place in the world while building a career in the fashion industry, entrepreneurship, and community leadership. Along the way, I discovered that some of the very experiences that once felt like my greatest obstacles were actually preparing me for my purpose.

Today, I am an empowerment speaker, foster care advocate, fashion show producer, mentor, photographer, and entrepreneur. Through my work, I help individuals and organizations understand the power of resilience, identity, confidence, and purpose. I use my lived experience to advocate for youth in foster care, inspire others to overcome adversity, and create opportunities for people to see themselves differently.

One of the greatest blessings of my journey has been realizing that my story is bigger than me. What began as a fight to survive has become a mission to help others heal, grow, and recognize their own potential. Whether I’m speaking at conferences, mentoring young people, producing events, or advocating for children in foster care, my goal remains the same: to turn pain into purpose and use my voice to create lasting impact.

Today, I stand as living proof that where you start does not determine where you finish. With faith, perseverance, and a willingness to embrace your purpose, it’s possible to build a life that not only changes your own future but helps change the future of others as well.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all. In fact, I would say the struggles are what shaped me into the person I am today.

Growing up in foster care came with challenges that many people never have to face. I entered the system at seven years old and aged out at eighteen without being adopted. There were times when I struggled with feelings of rejection, abandonment, identity, and wondering where I truly belonged. When you don’t have a strong support system or a clear roadmap, you have to learn many life lessons the hard way.

As an adult, the challenges didn’t magically disappear. Building a career, starting businesses, creating opportunities, and establishing credibility often meant facing setbacks, disappointments, financial obstacles, and moments of self-doubt. There were seasons when I had to bet on myself before anyone else did. There were times when people saw my circumstances but not my potential.

One of my biggest struggles was learning how to transform my pain into purpose. It’s one thing to survive difficult experiences; it’s another to heal from them and use them to serve others. That process took faith, personal growth, and a commitment to becoming the person I was created to be.

Looking back, I wouldn’t change the journey. The obstacles taught me resilience, empathy, leadership, and perseverance. They gave me the ability to connect with people from all walks of life and to be an authentic voice for young people, especially those in foster care who need someone to show them what’s possible.

The road hasn’t been smooth, but every challenge has helped prepare me for the work I’m doing today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about iAmMrU.com?
At its core, my brand is about transformation. Whether I’m standing on a stage as a speaker, mentoring young people, producing fashion shows, hosting events, or working behind the camera, my mission is the same: helping people recognize their value, embrace their story, and step confidently into who they were created to be.

Through the iAmMrU brand, I specialize in empowerment speaking, foster care advocacy, event hosting and emceeing, fashion show production, mentorship, personal branding, and confidence development. My work allows me to serve a wide range of audiences—from youth and nonprofit organizations to entrepreneurs, corporate teams, and community leaders.

What sets me apart is that I don’t teach from theory alone—I teach from lived experience. I know what it’s like to face adversity, uncertainty, rejection, and setbacks. Having spent my childhood in foster care and aging out of the system without being adopted, I’ve had to build my life from the ground up. That journey gives me a unique ability to connect with people on a deeper level because they know they’re hearing from someone who has walked through challenges and come out stronger on the other side.

While many people know me through fashion, speaking, or community leadership, what I’m most proud of is the impact. I’m proud of every young person who has found hope through my story, every audience member who has discovered a new level of confidence, and every opportunity I’ve had to advocate for youth in foster care who deserve to be seen, heard, and supported.

I want readers to know that my brand is bigger than business. It’s about legacy. It’s about creating meaningful experiences, inspiring transformation, and proving that your past does not have to define your future. Whether someone hires me as a speaker, event host, mentor, creative professional, or advocate, they’re not just getting a service—they’re partnering with someone who genuinely believes in helping people become the best version of themselves.

My goal is simple: to leave every person, organization, and community better than I found them.

What’s next?
The future is incredibly exciting because I feel like I’m stepping into the very purpose I’ve been preparing for my entire life.

One of my biggest goals is to continue expanding my impact as a speaker, advocate, and thought leader, particularly in the areas of foster care, youth empowerment, men’s mental health, resilience, and personal transformation. I want to take the message I’ve been sharing in local communities and bring it to larger audiences on a national level.

I’m especially excited about opportunities to influence systems and conversations surrounding foster care. As someone with lived experience, I understand firsthand the challenges many young people face, and I want to continue using my voice to advocate for meaningful change, support, and resources that help youth transition successfully into adulthood.

I’m also focused on growing the iAmMrU brand into a nationally recognized platform that combines speaking, mentorship, media, fashion, and community impact. I believe there is tremendous power in helping people discover their identity, confidence, and purpose, and I want to create more opportunities to do that through events, workshops, partnerships, and digital content.

One milestone I’m particularly excited about is presenting at the 2026 Texas CASA Conference. Opportunities like this allow me to reach professionals, volunteers, and leaders who are directly impacting the lives of children and families. It’s a dream come true and a glimpse of the larger impact I hope to make in the years ahead.

Above all, I’m looking forward to continuing to build a legacy that extends beyond business success. I want my life and work to create lasting change, inspire others to overcome adversity, and show people that no matter where they come from, their story still has the power to make a difference.

The best way to describe this season is that I’m not starting over—I’m building on everything I’ve learned, experienced, and overcome. And I truly believe the most impactful chapters are still ahead.
