Meet Sharif Abboud of EVOLVE

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharif Abboud.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I went into fitness out of college after a life of playing football. I began my career at the YMCA as a personal trainer and athletics coach. About a year later I took the fitness director position where I helped manage trainers and coaches for two years.

At the end of that time, I made a lateral move with a different company and started training and coaching at multiple locations in the DFW metroplex. I was approached with the opportunity to take the position as head trainer for the Dallas Mavericks Dancers and held that position for 5 years. After 12 years in the industry and more experience than I ever imagined, I felt called to FINALLY go out on my own.

My wife and I opened EVOLVE in Downtown Dallas in June 2017 and have never felt more fulfilled. We are home of the Allen Americans Ice Angels and a proud sponsor of the Dallas Stars Ice Girls. We have clients of all ages, shapes, personalities, and fitness levels. We have truly built a fitness community – it is so much more than a gym to everyone.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road to this point has been ANYTHING BUT SMOOTH – but we wouldn’t have it any other way. While our business is still young, we feel like we can handle just about anything that comes our way. We’ve learned and grown more in our business (and marriage!) in the last year than any other time throughout this journey.

Name the obstacle and my wife and I have seen it. The daily grind, the competition, the injuries, hospital visits, surgeries, 18 hour work days, 85 hour work weeks, real-life obstacles (loss of family) – we’ve seen it, tackled it, and continue to learn more and more about how to put things in perspective.

EVOLVE is at the first of it’s kind. We are a full-service gym for the everyday member as well as a training facility specializing in group coaching. Basically, if groups/classes aren’t your thing, we’ve got everything you need to get in a workout of your own. If you thrive off the group atmosphere and enjoy classes, we offer our exclusive and trademarked group coaching program, MET45, morning, noon, and night. We focus on building a better you from the inside out.

We offer extensive nutrition guidance that pairs perfectly with our training program to help you reach your goals most efficiently as possible. Family owned and operated – you’ll speak with either my wife or I directly, as we are committed to being hands-on owners of our business regardless of how busy we may become. We are COMMUNITY-based and COMMUNITY driven.
