Meet Sterlyn Jones of STERLING FIRST AID CPR

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sterlyn Jones.

Hi Sterlyn, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Sterlyn Jones – The Lady C.P.R.™ Story (Voyage Magazine Version)

My journey didn’t begin in a training room—it began through life experiences that required resilience, faith, and rebuilding. I am a survivor of domestic violence and identity theft, and those experiences changed the direction of my life. They forced me to pause, reflect, and ultimately rediscover my purpose. What came out of that season was a commitment to help others feel prepared, supported, and empowered in moments when life feels uncertain.

Today, many people know me as The Lady C.P.R.™, but that identity grew naturally from my work as an educator, American Red Cross Instructor, and community safety advocate. I realized that teaching CPR wasn’t just about compressions and certifications—it was about confidence, healing, and helping people believe they are capable of saving lives, including their own.

That realization led me to create my personal training platform, Train with Sterlynn, where I provide hands-on CPR education, First Aid and AED awareness, Stop the Bleed instruction, and safety readiness sessions for women, families, students, and childcare professionals. I intentionally designed these sessions to feel welcoming and supportive, especially for people who may feel nervous about emergency response training or who benefit from learning in smaller, more personal environments.

Alongside this work, I founded Sterling 1st Aid C.P.R.™, a nonprofit organization focused on expanding access to lifesaving training in underserved communities, schools, and youth programs. Through initiatives like 112 Lives™, Little Hearts Grow™, and the 30 Loves 2™ CPR Kiosk Initiative, I’m working to make CPR education more accessible, trauma-informed, and community-centered.

The Lady C.P.R.™ represents the personal side of my mission—the one-on-one connection with individuals, especially women and caregivers, who want to feel more confident and prepared. My work is guided by a framework I developed called C.P.R.: Cultivate. Purpose. Resilience.™, which reflects the belief that preparedness starts from within.

Everything I do is rooted in one message:

Preparedness is an act of love.

And my goal is to make sure more families, schools, and communities have the knowledge and confidence to respond when it matters most.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but each challenge helped shape the direction of my work and my purpose.

One of the biggest obstacles I faced was rebuilding my life after experiencing domestic violence and identity theft. Those experiences affected my education, employment, and financial stability at a critical time in my life. There were moments when I had to pause plans I had worked very hard toward, including continuing in law school. It was a difficult season, but it also became the foundation for the resilience-centered work I do today.

Another challenge has been building programs that serve communities while also creating sustainable pathways for growth. When you’re launching initiatives like The Lady C.P.R.™, Train with Sterlynn, and my nonprofit Sterling 1st Aid C.P.R.™, you’re often working with limited resources at the beginning. I relied heavily on faith, persistence, and community relationships while continuing to train people and expand access to CPR, First Aid, AED awareness, and safety education in schools, childcare centers, and underserved neighborhoods.

There were also moments where I had to learn how to separate my personal healing journey from my professional leadership role. Over time, I realized that my story wasn’t something to hide—it was something that could help others feel seen and supported. That realization helped shape my framework:

C.P.R. — Cultivate. Purpose. Resilience.™

Today, those challenges continue to influence my mission through initiatives like 112 Lives™, Little Hearts Grow™, and the 30 Loves 2™ CPR Kiosk Initiative, which are designed to make lifesaving training more accessible and community-centered.

Looking back, I wouldn’t describe the journey as easy—but I would describe it as meaningful. Every obstacle helped clarify why this work matters so much to me:

Preparedness is an act of love.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My work centers around helping individuals and communities feel confident and prepared to respond in emergencies while also strengthening resilience in everyday life. I serve as an American Red Cross Instructor, educator, and founder of Sterling 1st Aid C.P.R.™, a community-focused training organization that provides CPR, First Aid, AED education, opioid overdose response training, and safety readiness programs across schools, childcare centers, community organizations, and underserved neighborhoods.

Alongside that work, many people know me as The Lady C.P.R.™, which is my personal teaching identity and the heart behind my one-on-one and small-group training platform, Train with Sterlynn. Through this platform, I provide hands-on safety training sessions designed especially for women, families, students, and childcare professionals who want a supportive and approachable learning environment.

What makes my approach different is that I don’t just teach CPR as a certification requirement—I teach it as a confidence-building life skill. My work integrates preparedness with healing, empowerment, and community connection. I developed a framework called C.P.R.: Cultivate. Purpose. Resilience.™, which reflects the belief that learning to save a life starts with believing you have purpose and the strength to respond when it matters most.

Through initiatives like 112 Lives™, Little Hearts Grow™, and the 30 Loves 2™ CPR Kiosk Initiative, I’m working to expand access to lifesaving training in ways that are more community-centered, trauma-informed, and accessible for families who may not otherwise receive this type of education.

Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is that The Lady C.P.R.™ has become more than a title—it represents trust. It represents someone who meets people where they are and helps them feel capable, not intimidated, by emergency response training. Many participants come into class feeling unsure of themselves and leave realizing they can make a difference in someone’s life.

I want readers to know that my mission goes beyond teaching skills. It’s about helping people recognize their ability to respond, protect their families, and support their communities with confidence.

Everything I do is guided by one belief:

Preparedness is an act of love.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned along my journey is that purpose often grows out of the very challenges we never expected to face. There were moments in my life when things didn’t go according to plan, especially after experiencing domestic violence and identity theft, but those experiences helped me understand what resilience really looks like—not just personally, but in the lives of the people I serve today.

I also learned that teaching lifesaving skills is about more than technical training. When people come into a CPR class, many of them are nervous, unsure, or even afraid of doing something wrong in an emergency. Through my work as The Lady C.P.R.™ and through my platform Train with Sterlynn, I’ve learned that confidence is just as important as instruction. When someone leaves training believing they can help save a life, that’s when the real impact happens.

Another lesson has been the importance of building something that reflects who you are. Creating my framework C.P.R.: Cultivate. Purpose. Resilience.™ helped me understand that preparedness starts internally. It’s not just about responding to emergencies—it’s about helping people recognize their strength, their value, and their ability to support others in meaningful ways.

Most importantly, I’ve learned that your story can become a bridge for someone else. What once felt like setbacks became the foundation for my mission, and today that mission continues to grow through my work with families, schools, women, and communities across Texas and beyond.

That’s why I always say:

Preparedness is an act of love.
