Today we’d like to introduce you to Talia Chachkes.
Hi Talia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I began learning tarot and astrology during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. I absolutely fell in love with it and continued to practice and study for the next 4 years. During that time, I learned how astrology and tarot could help me better learn to love and accept myself. I started a PhD program in psychology in 2023, and I started reading tarot and astrology professionally at Hemlock Haus in 2024. Ever since, I have been blending my scientific knowledge and my love of both tarot and astrology to give people grounded and well-informed readings based in science and spirituality.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I feel that my journey in general has not been smooth, but has been filled with challenges and lessons that have allowed me to become who I am today. From changing degree paths in undergrad to friendship and relationship difficulties to starting a PhD program to experiencing some major health difficulties, my life has been bumpy and filled with challenges and adversity. But during all of those difficult times, I was able to use tarot and astrology as an anchor to keep me grounded in myself. They remind me that times of hardship are never permanent, and that with each challenge I encounter, and with each lesson I learn, I am able to use the wisdom I have gained to help guide others towards the most aligned versions of themselves.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a tarot and astrology reader! I give readings to clients who come in with a variety of questions about themselves, their lives, and their decisions. I am known for utilizing my knowledge of science to give both spiritually and scientifically informed readings. Reading tarot and astrological charts is not easy and requires a certain degree of confidence in your own abilities, knowledge, and lived experience. And as humans, some days we feel extremely confident and some days confidence can be hard to find. Where I am most proud of myself is being able to put myself out there and give people readings even on days when I don’t feel the most confident, or I’m being hard on myself for things outside of the reading. As mentioned earlier, what sets me apart from others is my use of science in my readings as that is usually a perspective and knowledge base many other readers don’t have.
How do you define success?
This is such a hard question because I feel the answer can be so different for each person! To me, I think success is achieving a life where I feel I am happy, I can take care of my needs, I am surrounded by people that love and support me, and that in whatever work I do, the goal of that work is to help other people to live better lives for themselves.
