Haleigh, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was in my 8th year of a very rewarding and enjoyable administrative career. I was not unsatisfied with life, but I was ready for something new and exciting. I didn’t set out to just make money—that “career path” is neither new or exciting. Rather, I thought about what was most enjoyable to me and developed a plan to get paid to do it. I’d always had dreams of owning my own business and being my own boss and this was the perfect time to explore that. Travel has always been something I am passionate about for several reasons. Travel can be anything you want it to be: an opportunity to educate yourself outside of a classroom; a chance to open your eyes to new things, new people and new ways of thinking; it is adventurous, relaxing, inspiring, etc. Personally, travel has created a special bond in my family that I wouldn’t trade for anything. By launching my career as a Travel Advisor, I want to help others create memories that stay with them for a lifetime.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Definitely not! Starting a business takes an incredible amount of time and energy and with two small children and numerous other commitments, the normal “9-5” hours don’t apply. It’s meant early mornings, late nights and emails in the carpool line. For anyone that is looking to launch a business, you have to be willing to find a sense of balance. Every day can look different, but keeping your eyes set on your goals is the only way to keep putting one foot in front of the other. Another important part of launching a business is having people in your corner—people who are ahead of you in the process and people who cheer you on. Those people are invaluable. Lastly, the more you genuinely enjoy your work, the more likely you are to succeed!

Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
You can’t be afraid to put yourself out there. Make the phone calls, send the emails, show up to the happy hour events. Have confidence in your decisions and in yourself and others will take notice. Ask for help… the most successful people in life know they can’t do it all. Seek out those who are farther ahead of you in your career path… offer to buy them a cup of coffee and pick their brain. You would be surprised at how many people are willing to sit down with you!

- Travel Planning – $200 – Next Exit Travels will arrange personalized travel experiences inclusive of planning services for all related accommodations, airfare, transportation, activities, excursions, and dining. The Travel Planning fee starts at $200 and can go up based on the complexity of the trip, length of the trip, and number of people traveling.
- Hotel Only – Inquire. Often waived if Client knows what hotel/room type they desire and simply want to take advantage of the extra amenities I can provide.
- Concierge Fee – $150. Includes Restaurant Recommendations, Dining Reservations, Spa Appointments, Theater Tickets, Tee Times, and on-property reservations. Additional rates may apply for unusually complex requests.
