Today we’d like to introduce you to Triesta Langford.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Triesta. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have always loved art and fashion. As a child, I admired and tried just about everything I possibly could to create beauty. My daughter said once it was my job to make the world a beautiful place.
I was blessed with a little talent… I could draw, paint, and design my own clothes, and did, as a child.
I was also fascinated with beautiful leather work. I was ranch raised so I was also surrounded by handmade boots, saddles, belts, and leather clothes…
When I was about 10 yrs. old my dad had a belt made. I wanted one for myself! I begged for him to have one made for me. He refused. Instead, he took me to a leather shop and told them I needed everything to make my own belt. Leather, tools, paints, he spent $600.00 that day. Would probably be a fortune today. But from that point on he never had to buy school clothes, horses, or anything for me. I figured it out and ran with it. By the time I was 14, I walked into stores and found my designs had been copied by large companies.
I am spread very thin. I dress rodeo queens, make killer guitar straps for celebrities such as Kaycee Musgraves, and clothes and accessories fit for runways anywhere! I combine art, my love of the western world with an edge.
Has it been a smooth road?
I don’t think anything worth admiring is ever a smooth road! It’s always hit and miss at designing anything. I look at things I’m working on, new ideas, until I am exhausted and absolutely hate them! After I walk away and rest, I see it after a day, a week, and I think it’s brilliant. And things I think I absolutely botched!! Are the things other people thinking are brilliant.
It’s exhausting…
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Designs By Triesta story. Tell us more about the business.
My company is me… It would be much easier if I had some of my designs reproduced.
And I have looked into that. But the quality is not there. The art is not there. That is what sets me apart from others. I can’t expect or trust anyone to put the effort, or passion into one of my designs that I do. When someone sees something I have made, they recognize my work.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Lol! I would love to figure that one out! I will always be one step ahead of trends and fashion. I like to think I set the pace! I will probably always be behind on production!!
