Meet Trisha Alex of Dallas Insight Counseling

Today we’d like to introduce you to Trisha Alex.

Hi Trisha , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey into counseling began with a desire to help people navigate life’s challenges and discover that healing and growth are possible, even during difficult seasons. From early on, I was drawn to understanding people, relationships, and the impact that our experiences can have on our emotional well-being.

After completing my education and becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor, I gained experience working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in a variety of settings. Those experiences helped shape my approach as a therapist and deepened my passion for creating a safe, supportive space where clients feel seen, heard, and understood.

Over time, I discovered a particular passion for working with children, teens, and parents. I saw firsthand how providing support to a child can create positive change throughout an entire family system. This led me to pursue additional specialized training, including becoming a Registered Play Therapist, which has allowed me to help children express and process emotions in developmentally appropriate ways.

As my experience grew, so did the vision for creating a practice that would provide compassionate, high-quality mental health care to the community. That vision eventually became Dallas Insight Counseling, where I have the privilege of supporting individuals, children, teens, and families through a wide range of challenges.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like many business owners, the journey has come with its share of obstacles, lessons, and growth opportunities. Building a practice while balancing family life, professional development, and the ever-changing needs of clients has required perseverance and faith. Through it all, I remain grateful for the opportunity to do meaningful work that allows me to walk alongside people during some of the most important moments of their lives.

Today, my passion remains the same as when I first started: helping people find clarity, connection, healing, and hope. It is an honor to be trusted with my clients’ stories, and I look forward to continuing to serve the community for years to come.

We’ve been impressed with Dallas Insight Counseling, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Dallas Insight Counseling, we specialize in helping children, teens, and families navigate emotional, behavioral, and relational challenges while strengthening the connections that matter most. While many counseling practices offer a broad range of services, our practice was intentionally built around supporting children, adolescents, parents, and the family system as a whole.

One of our core beliefs is that behavior is communication. When a child is acting out, withdrawing, struggling with anxiety, or having difficulty at home or school, we look beyond the behavior itself to understand what the child is trying to communicate and what the family may need to move forward together. Rather than focusing on simply “fixing” a problem, we work to create understanding, connection, and lasting growth.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Play Therapist (RPT), I utilize evidence-based approaches including play therapy, EMDR, parent support, and developmentally appropriate counseling techniques to help children and teens process difficult experiences, develop healthy coping skills, and build resilience. I also work closely with parents because meaningful and lasting change often happens when the entire family is supported.

What sets us apart is our emphasis on partnership. We don’t view parents as observers in the therapeutic process—we view them as an essential part of it. We provide guidance, education, and practical tools that help families continue making progress long after they leave the therapy office.

What I am most proud of is the trust families place in us. Parents often come to counseling feeling overwhelmed, discouraged, or unsure of what to do next. Watching a child gain confidence, seeing a teen begin to open up, or helping restore connection within a family is incredibly rewarding and reminds me why I entered this profession.

Ultimately, Dallas Insight Counseling exists to help families find clarity during difficult seasons, strengthen their relationships, and move toward healing and growth together. Our mission is reflected in the phrase that guides everything we do: Clarity. Connection. Growth. One step at a time.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is faith, family, and helping others experience healing and growth.

My faith has been a guiding force throughout my life and career. It has shaped how I view people, relationships, and the importance of compassion, grace, and perseverance. It reminds me that every person has value and a unique story worth understanding.

Family is also incredibly important to me. Much of my work centers around helping children, teens, and parents strengthen their relationships and navigate challenges together. I have seen firsthand how healthy connections within a family can impact every area of a person’s life. When individuals feel supported, understood, and connected, they are often better equipped to face life’s difficulties and thrive.

Professionally, what matters most is creating a space where people feel safe enough to be honest, vulnerable, and hopeful. Seeking counseling can be difficult, and I never take for granted the trust clients place in me. Being able to walk alongside someone during a challenging season and witness their resilience, growth, and healing is one of the greatest privileges of my work.

At the end of the day, I believe life is less about accomplishments and more about the relationships we build, the lives we impact, and the way we show up for others. Whether as a counselor, wife, mother, friend, or member of the community, my goal is to make a positive difference in the lives of those around me.
