Today we’d like to introduce you to Aanchal Bhatia-Mendoza.
Hi Aanchal, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I came into chiropractic already believing the body is meant to heal as a whole, not in pieces. But it was when I started working with pregnant women that something clicked for me. I kept meeting moms who felt like no one was really listening to them. They were being rushed through, given a few minutes on the table, and sent home with a body that was changing faster than anyone was paying attention to. I knew I had the heart to do this differently. I wanted to build a place where a pregnant woman could walk in and feel like someone finally saw what her body was actually going through.
So I opened Tula in 2021 with one real intention. I wanted to create a space where my patients could come in and feel safe in their healing, truly cared for, and listened to. The more moms I served, the clearer it became that this kind of care was missing, and that the women who needed it most were the ones least likely to receive it.
Then I became a mom myself, and the work grew even more meaningful to me. Pregnancy is one season, and postpartum is its own. It can be far harder and far quieter than anyone prepares you for. Walking moms through that recovery, not just their pregnancy, is some of the most important work we do. And caring for babies, giving them a space where they feel safe and free to just be, quickly became my happy place.
Today, Tula is honored to care for whole families. When each person in a family is supported and thriving, the whole home feels steadier, and healthy, nurtured children grow into healthy adults. That is the heart of why Tula exists, and it is what we get to come back to every single day.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a happy road, but I don’t think any practice you pour your heart into grows without a few growing pains, and Tula has had its share.
We opened in 2021, when the world was still mostly shut down and so much felt uncertain. Everything in me kept saying this was the path, that I was meant to create a place to bring our community together, even while most people were still pulling apart. Building a place where families could come back together, in a moment like that, took a lot of faith.
The other challenge has been staying true to how we care for people. So much of chiropractic has become quick and fast-paced, a few minutes on the table and out the door. We chose the harder route. Longer visits, more hands-on time, real depth with each family. Holding that standard takes intention every single day.
And then I became a mother myself. Stepping away temporarily to care for my own baby could have been the hardest part, but I am lucky to have an associate who loves our patients and cares for them exactly the way I would. Knowing Tula was in such good hands while I was away is something I will always be grateful for.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We specialize in caring for women through pregnancy and postpartum, and we bring that same care to their babies, their children, and the whole family. Those two seasons, pregnancy and the months after birth, are when a woman’s body is going through the most and usually has the least support around her. That is the work we built Tula around.
Most women come to us after being rushed somewhere else, so the difference they feel first is the time. Our visits are thirty to forty-five minutes and they are all-inclusive. In one session we are working through the muscles, doing soft tissue and craniosacral work, adjusting, and supporting the nervous system, and we leave room for the actual conversation about how she is feeling. Nothing is rushed and nothing is split into separate add-ons. She gets the whole thing every time.
Both of our doctors are Webster certified and listed with the ICPA, which is the training specific to caring for pregnant women and children. In North DFW, very few practices can say that about every provider in the office. For a family it means the care feels the same no matter who they see.
What I am most proud of is that women trust us with all of it. They come to us pregnant, they come back through postpartum, and then they bring us their newborns. A lot of them tell us their visit is the pause they need to keep going. Watching a
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
My personal growth tends to run on the deeper, more inward side. I am always working on staying open, aware, and present, because the calmer and clearer I am, the better I show up for my patients and my family.
Dr. Joe Dispenza’s work has shaped a lot of how I think. The way he connects the mind, the body, and the nervous system mirrors so much of what we see in practice, and it continues to influence how I approach healing from the inside out.
“It Starts With the Egg” is another I return to often, especially for the women preparing their bodies for pregnancy. It is one of those resources I love putting into a patient’s hands.
I also host a podcast called Energetically Unbothered, which has become a space to explore healing, energy, and staying grounded in a busy world. It keeps me learning, and it lets me share the ideas that fuel the way I live and work.
