Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Lott.
Hi Amanda, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I got laid off in 2023. I started in construction… doing video content for my brother’s glass company. He was in construction for 20 years, and I grew a portfolio simply because his people were watching. I invested in a camera, and then they started asking for photos on-site construction so I did it. I started posting, and the momentum compounded… people started asking for photos of family, engagement, maternity, etc.
My portfolio was majority business to business, so I made a strategic pivot and scaled down in that category. I was nervous about losing clients a lot of loyal clients too but I still shoot my loyal ones behind the scenes of all the business work.
I’ve had some amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experiences—my work was featured on a New York billboard and on Ukrainian news platforms for Christmas charity stories for children affected by the horrific bombings in Ukraine that needed a home. I’ve worked with billion-dollar brands like First On Site, large multifamily companies, marketing companies, and beauty brands… a lot of personal brand work.
I love the transformation the conceptualization, the problem-solving, the curated creation, and building brands through my lens. I consider myself an architect and creative director someone who captures and constructs. That’s where my design sheets come in. They are the blueprint behind every shoot the intentional framework that translates vision into execution. Before the camera ever comes out, the direction is already built. The poses, the flow, the purpose it’s all mapped. I love my clients to feel confident, powerful, and unstoppable as they receive their digital assets.
But what people don’t talk about enough is the personal development that comes with being a business owner. The refinement. The stretching. The internal work that no one sees.
This journey will expose everything your discipline, your mindset, your fears, your capacity. It requires a level of emotional intelligence, resilience, and self-leadership that you don’t fully understand until you’re in it. There’s a constant evolution happening learning how to make decisions under pressure, navigating uncertainty, letting go of control while still carrying responsibility. You’re not just building a business… you’re building yourself.
It takes incredible endurance, adaptability, and becoming someone who can sustain growth without losing the vision placed inside of you. There’s a quiet, behind-the-scenes transformation that happens long before the visible success.
I feel so incredibly blessed to obtain opportunities typically some people don’t acquire their first 3 years in business. I am a faith-led woman, and I know because of my Savior, Jesus Christ none of this would have been possible. When I get so busy, He is the source of my strength the foundation, the sustainer, and the reason I keep going.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Getting laid off in 2023 wasn’t just a career change… it was a confrontation. The fear was real. The uncertainty, the pressure, the questions of “what now?” all of it. There’s a weight that comes with having your stability pulled from under you.
But at the same time, there was something deeper I couldn’t ignore. There was so much more beyond corporate America. I was never content.
I knew the vision and purpose in me was far too large to settle.
That’s a different kind of tension to feel fear and clarity at the same time. To know you could play it safe, but also know that shrinking back would cost you more than stepping forward. It required a level of conviction, decisiveness, and faith that didn’t make logical sense on paper… but made complete sense in my spirit.
There were moments of doubt, moments of stretching, moments where I had to choose discipline over comfort. It wasn’t glamorous it was refining. It demanded that I trust what was placed in me, even when there was no external validation yet.
Because when you know truly know that you’re called to something greater, settling stops being an option.
So I moved. Not because it was easy… but because staying the same would’ve been harder.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Brand, Personal Brand, Business Photography
I have a heart of service. Not performative… real. The kind that looks beyond the shot list and pays attention to the person in front of me. My work doesn’t start and stop with the camera. Thats why I have clients who book me 6+ times. My clients are incrdibly loyal. Large corporations to small business owners.
I carry a fiery truth. I’m not here to just make things look good..I will say what needs to be said, guide where direction is needed, and bring forth the clear sight when things feel scattered. There’s a boldness in how I lead, but it’s always anchored in purpose.
I’m not afraid to speak truth, even when it’s uncomfortable.
And deeper than that—I pray for my clients. Quietly, intentionally. I believe in what I carry and what they’re building. There are moments where I will ignore the room because I feel a deep pull to pour into someone. To encourage, to ground, to remind them of who they are.
That’s not something you can replicate or outsource.
I show up as someone who sees, who leads, and who serves fully.
