Rising Stars: Meet Amanda Mitchell of Melissa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Mitchell

Hi Amanda, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My story of resilience began when I was born. My first moments of life were not your typical ones, because I wasn’t breathing. I was immediately taken away to the NICU and had to fight to live from the beginning. I believe that is what started my determined attitude. Now this fitness story began back in 2009 when I had to have scoliosis surgery at Texas Scottish Rite hospital for children. I was told I would never be able to lift heavy weights ever again. I don’t handle being told I won’t be able to do something so I immediately knew I would prove them wrong. It began with recovery, when I recovered 3 months quicker than expected. Now this is when the story gets fun. I began bodybuilding in high school, but fell off in college simply due to distractions. One toxic relationship after another, my confidence and self respect went away as well. I was so lost. Mix in the pandemic, I gained over 70 pounds, and was the most miserable I had ever been. I knew it was time to fight to change my life. In September of 2021 I hired my coach and that was the beginning of an entirely new life for me. I slowly healed my relationship with food. I gained my self respect back and more importantly I gained more confidence than I have ever had. I gained the confidence to buy my own home, leave my unhealthy relationship and venture out on my own. Hands down has been the shift in my trajectory in life. I am currently down 70 pounds with a goal of 95 pounds lost this year. I want to inspire and prove to other people that they can do it as well! You are totally capable of changing your life and gaining confidence again. The quick fixes are not the answer, sustainable changes are the way to go! I am the living proof of that!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
This has been the most exciting yet tough journey I have ever been on. I think anything worth accomplishing does not come easy. A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor, as they say. I think the biggest struggle I have faced is being truly honest with myself and my coach. It is so easy to hide diet slip ups, and just not admit when you binge eat or cheat on the meal plan. So for me, I knew I would only be successful if I was honest with myself and my coach. Through being honest with myself I have fallen in love with who I am, and the person I am today.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I specialize in lifestyle transformations. Taking people from not being confident, to truly loving their life and who they are. It’s not just a weight loss journey, it is completely changing your life and the habits you have. It doesn’t happen over night but if you stick with me and stick it out you can absolutely do this! Let’s cry together, fall off the wagon together, and get back up and continue to fight.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up I was always resilient and determined. I have always been one to not take no as the answer. I also am funny, and fun loving and just a go getter. I have a soft gentle heart and simply want to see people thrive. I have always said I was put on this earth to make a HUGE impact and I know I will do just that.
