Rising Stars: Meet D’Andre Pyke of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to D’Andre Pyke.

Hi D’Andre, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born in Arlington, Texas, and my connection to music deepened after my father passed in 2011. He was a gospel singer at church, and losing him made music something much more personal for me.

In 2016, I started singing at parties, just having fun, and people around me kept telling me I should take music seriously. Around that same time, I was attending culinary school from 2015–2016, but I was eventually let go due to attendance. Still, I held onto my passion for food and decided to blend it with music instead of giving it up.

Later in 2016, I fully committed to my artistry and dropped my first mixtape, Chef Dee’s Cookbook, in 2017. Since then, I’ve been performing consistently and building my sound and stage presence.

Now, I’m a Dallas-based R&B artist known for high-energy live performances with my band, The Taste Experience—bringing together soul, funk, and hip-hop with live culinary elements. I’ve released four albums, built a residency in Las Vegas, performed on major stages, and won Best Soul Vocalist at the Dallas Entertainment Awards. I’m continuing to grow my brand and create experiences that people don’t just hear, but truly remember.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nah, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. My current obstacles are mainly around scaling and sustainability.

I’ve built a strong foundation—consistent performances, a solid band, multiple projects—but now it’s about turning that momentum into stable, long-term income. Breaking into bigger markets, securing higher-paying bookings, and getting in front of the right industry people are ongoing challenges.

Another obstacle is wearing multiple hats. As an independent artist, I’m not just performing—I’m managing, booking, marketing, and funding everything myself. That can stretch my time and energy, especially when I’m trying to grow at a higher level.

I’m also focused on expanding my brand in a way that fully captures what I do—combining music and culinary experiences—while making sure it translates to larger stages, sponsors, and touring opportunities.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an R&B artist, performer, and creative director behind my brand, Chef Dee & The Taste Experience. I specialize in high-energy live performances that blend soul, funk, and hip-hop with a full band, while also incorporating my culinary background into the show. It’s not just a concert—it’s an experience.

I’m known for my stage presence, crowd engagement, and the way I bring people into the performance. My mashups, transitions, and ability to control the room are what really set me apart. People don’t just watch—they feel like they’re a part of it.

What I’m most proud of is the consistency. I’ve been performing regularly for years, building my name from the ground up, releasing multiple projects, winning Best Soul Vocalist at the Dallas Entertainment Awards, and even building a residency in Las Vegas. Everything I’ve done has been independent, and it’s all been built off real connection with my audience.

What sets me apart is that I don’t just make music—I create moments. The combination of live music, personality, and food brings a different kind of energy that people don’t see every day. It’s intentional, it’s cultural, and it leaves a lasting impression.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
One thing that surprises people about me is that I’m not just an artist—I’m also a trained chef and a culinary teacher on the side.
