Rising Stars: Meet Joe Garcia of Dallas-Fort Worth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joe Garcia.

Hi Joe, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I currently lead/host a bi-weekly bible study, called Fellowship Bible Studies. As well as, help plan event hangouts for Revival Run Club.

Back in the Fall of 2025, I had the vision of creating a safe space for Christians to be in fellowship with one another. A place for them to be their authentic selves, without any judgment. I talked to a few friends, and they were on board so we launched that season.

Originally it started off as fun hangouts. We had a S’mores Night, Friendsgiving, pumpkin smashing, the state fair, game nights. It was a very fun and cheerful season.

Fast forward to the start of the new year, I decided just to transition the hangouts to weekly Bible studies. The decision was simply because all of the fun holiday activities had ran its course. I have a vision of going through every book in the Bible as a group. It’ll probably take us a few years to complete that vision.

The Bible studies are very relaxed and laidback. I am simply an empty vessel of Christ hosting them. I’m not there to preach to others. We all gather to read the word together and give input and feedback as a community.

We are all followers of Christ. I believe my brothers and sisters in Christ have power in sharing what we’ve read in the Bible.

With Revival Run Club, Brian Deleon, the founder, has been very encouraging to me to lead hangouts for them. We’ve gone to a few Texas Rangers games and had a Carne Asada. The hangouts are very much a safe space for Christians

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not. I’m balancing two jobs, being the head of my household, trying to take care of my physical, mental and spiritual health as well.

So many times I’ve thought about throwing in the towel but honestly these Bible studies and hangouts are the highlights of my week.

There’s so many Christian community groups right now which is awesome . So sometimes my headspace thinks “It’ll be fine if I quit.”

But I know there’s definitely a reason behind all this. I think of the friends I’ve made along the way and the ones who have told me that I’ve made a difference in their lives. I’m simply here to serve others.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My friends often tell me that I’m in ministry but I don’t agree. I’m simply a Follower of Christ, that hosts Bible studies and hangouts.

However I will say that I am a leader in my community. I’ve been following Christ and going to church for over 6 years now. I’ve gone to so many church groups and Bible studies over the years. I’ve also had the honor of leading multiple church groups and serve teams.

I lead with love, humility and the Fruits of the Spirit. One of my biggest values is to make people feel safe, valued and heard. I’ve been in situations where I felt judged or belittled and don’t ever want anyone to feel that way.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I wish I could answer this positively but in all honesty I have a lot of childhood trauma. It’s honestly the majority of my childhood memories. But through the grace of God those days are over.
