Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Gruben and Natasha Bonner.
Hi Julie and Natasha, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
We became friends during chiropractic school and realized we had the exact vision for what we wanted in practice. There are actually a lot of different chiropractic styles, so this was a rare thing. We both had a vision of a chiropractic wellness office with a focus on pregnant mothers and their families. We have been incredibly blessed on this journey. We moved into a bigger space in January 2019 to accommodate our growth and added a third doctor, Dr. Bobbie Hutchison, to our team.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We wanted to open our doors as soon as we graduated, which coincidentally coincided with a recession. No one was giving out business loans to new graduates. We opened our office on a shoestring budget and did most of the office build-out/construction ourselves with the help of our two families. Looking back, it was a great experience, but a trying one as well. In the beginning, we pounded the pavement, doing marketing with the City of Allen and ergonomic seminars for local businesses. We discovered that word of mouth is what truly grows a practice and we’ve been blessed to have patients that spread the word for us. We are happy to say we are primarily a referral-based practice now.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Allen Family Chiropractic provides care for the entire family. We have adjusted babies who were just hours old and have adjusted moms in active labor in our office on a consistent basis. We love working with all types of patients, from athletes to desk jockeys, and believe we have the right gentle techniques to benefit a variety of patients. All of the doctors also provide soft tissue work, home exercises/stretches and supplement/nutrition guidance to tailor treatment to each patient’s specific needs. We are passionate about chiropractic and wellness care and love serving our community.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
Our success in practice would not have been possible without the support of our families, especially our husbands. They are our biggest cheerleaders (and handy office men, too)! We also have an amazing office staff that keeps things running smoothly from day today. From answering phones to handling insurance, they do it all! And of course, we have to recognize our awesome patients! Caring for our wonderful patients is truly a privilege and an honor!
