Rising Stars: Meet Kelsi Tresko

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsi Tresko.

Hi Kelsi, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Hello! My name is Kelsi or Kelsiplays, I am a content creator who is community-oriented, goal-driven, and a loving person who welcomes everyone. I have been streaming on Twitch since 2014, originally streaming CSGO and RuneScape but now I pursue a variety of games. I gained Twitch Affiliate at the release and continue to create a positive, safe place on the internet where all types of people can become friends. My content focuses on all things gaming, cosplay, and fitness! I now stream for TeamKitty, and the Alienware Hive, and am sponsored by Alienware and GFuel but partner with tons of companies to support brands online. &I recently started my own project to give back and empower women in gaming by creating my own team called the Nerdygirl Network.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a woman in gaming has always been a struggle since I was kid, but my love for gaming is what has kept me going. From working at GameStop, streaming, and now working in production for esports there has always been challenges. The hate that women have for other women, and the constant battle trying to prove you are a real gamer to men. For the longest time as a girl gamer, we thought we were the only girl in our groups of men, but once communities started to build on sites like YouTube and Twitch, we shortly realized there were more women in gaming than we had ever realized. There are still people out there who will summarize the success of a woman to being a girl or looks but in all honestly, it is about handwork and dedication whether that is in streaming, production, game design, etc. That is why it was so important for me to join TeamKitty when I first started streaming in 2014, because it was an all-women’s stream team where we lifted each other up, and truly supported one another. I now want to create that same inviting community for other women and allies with the Nerdygirl Network.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a content creator focusing on streaming. and my content has always focused on gaming, cosplay, and fitness. Primarily gaming with nightly streams of the latest titles, or more niche indie games that have released. I started IRL streaming by building computers on stream before Twitch had created the just chatting section and have always been a fan of the latest tech which led me to my sponsorship with Alienware which was my dream hardware as a kid. From there I also began to cosplay my favorite anime or video game characters on stream, that led me to making appearances at events like the Dallas Comic Con, DreamHack, PAX South, and so much more. I have my cosmetology license, so makeup has also been a passion of mine, getting to stream for MacCosmetics at TwitchCon was definitely a highlight of mine. But over the years, streaming on the internet definitely takes a toll on your mental health with the trolls and darker sides of the internet, so I really began to focus on my health, which is where fitness comes into play. I now do meal-prepping streams and make sure my community is healthy and happy too. Which is why I choose to partner with brands like GFUEL to keep me fueled in the gym and on stream. As a creator, I have always given back to the community with charity streams, but I also want to build a brand that allows me to help and educate other creators too.
