Rising Stars: Meet O’sharrah Daniel of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to O’sharrah Daniel

Hi O’Sharrah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
DAB’s Eatery was established in 2020, after the passing of my mother. My dad use to own a restaurant Daniel’s BBQ and they specialized in catering small and large events. So I wanted to keep the cooking legacy alive with a restaurant of my own.

The inspiration for our name “DAB’s Eatery”came from my mom’s full name “Debra Ann Baker” and the casual at home experience you would get from an Eatery. We specialize in TACOS; our Big Dipper (birria) and OG (chicken) tacos are our Top Sellers!!! But our menu definitely has more to offer.

DAB’s Eatery is attending our First pop up of 2025 as a food vendor at the Dallas Soul Food Festival— March 23, 2025.

We also will be going live on DoorDash in the beginning of the March 2025.

Our main goal is obtain another food trailer , so we can be fully operational— so more and more people can try our amazing tasting food!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
DAB’s Eatery’s journey has not been smooth sailing. There has been hiccups throughout our years of operations with the main obstacle of losing our food trailer in 2021 due to unforeseen circumstances. But with any business there is 50 order days and there is 5 order days; that’s the risk you take entering into entrepreneurship. As being the owner , I love everyday of it. We are back like we never left.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I, Osharrah Daniel, graduated from Prairie View A&M University with a Bachelor Degree in Construction Science. So majority of my work experience is in Roadway Construction, with 5+ years. My current career path is Education, teaching our youth. I am in between schools, working towards passing my teacher’s certification exam but I am currently a substitute teacher and operating DAB’s Eatery till gods plan changes.

My mother was also a teacher for 20 years before she passed away, so I can say my parents are a big part of what I do. They were hard workers so only right I continue that legacy with fulfilling all my career goals. I believe you can do anything you put your mind to; even if thats wanting to work a 9-5 and have 3 businesses of your own on the side. It’s my dreams and visions so I am going to make it my reality.

DAB’s Eatery will be one of Dallas,TX best food spots !!!

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
My advice to networking is always be confident in your brand and what you have to offer and never take the first no! Your opportunity is out there, you have to believe it! Networking can take you and your business to another level. A simple handshake can turn into a million dollar deal! I haven’t gotten that deal yet, but DAB’s time is coming.
