Rising Stars: Meet Sarina Arzani of Dallas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarina Arzani.

Hi Sarina, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a non-traditional, first-generation dental student, originally Persian. I completed my A Levels in the UK, then earned my BSA degree at UT Austin. Now, I’m in my third year at Texas A&M College of Dentistry in Dallas. My journey, spanning different countries and educational systems, has shaped my unique perspective and deepened my passion for dentistry.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. The language and cultural differences, along with adapting to different learning styles, were significant challenges. However, these experiences have taught me resilience and adaptability, and I’ve grown a lot through them.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Dentistry is an amazing career where you get to help people have a beautiful, radiant smile that they feel comfortable with. I’m very passionate about cosmetic dentistry because it allows me to make a huge impact on people’s self-confidence by giving them their dream smile. What sets me apart is my dedication to understanding my patients’ needs and my commitment to continuous learning to provide the best care possible. I’m most proud of the moments when I see the transformation in my patients’ confidence and happiness after their treatments. As a third-year dental student, I’m also grateful to my amazing instructors at school who help me grow and become a better version of myself every day.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along my journey is that anything is possible if you dream big and work hard without giving up. When I started, many people told me that dentistry is a very competitive and challenging field. However, I’ve always stayed positive and worked hard to achieve my dreams. I hope to become a dentist who can inspire young kids to pursue dentistry and develop a love for this field.
