Today we’d like to introduce you to Tammy Parker.
Hi Tammy, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Books found me long before I ever imagined I would write one.
I grew up in a home where storytelling existed in two very different but equally powerful forms. My father was what I call a “song storyteller.” He could take an ordinary moment, snap his fingers or clap his hands, and suddenly the room became alive with rhythm, emotion, and story. He taught me that storytelling is not just written — it’s felt. It lives in cadence, pauses, expression, and the way people carry meaning through everyday life.
My mother’s relationship with stories shaped me just as deeply, though in an entirely different way. Due to medical issues, she struggled with literacy, which meant books represented something precious and almost sacred to me from a young age. Reading became more than entertainment — it became connection, imagination, escape, and possibility. I learned early that stories have the power to bridge gaps that life sometimes creates.
That love of connection eventually carried into every area of my life — not only writing and creativity, but also the way I work with people today. Alongside my creative work, I’ve built an Avon business centered around authenticity, comfort, and real conversations, particularly within 55+ communities. I host engaging Avon parties and create online spaces that feel welcoming and personal rather than transactional. My focus has never been perfection — it’s helping women feel like themselves again.
That philosophy became the heart of my online presence:
“Over 50 | Real skin | Soft routines 🤍
Helping you feel like yourself again
Avon + what I actually use.”
I think people connect with honesty now more than ever. Whether I’m recommending skincare, hosting a senior beauty event, creating art, or writing fiction, I want people to feel seen rather than sold to.
Over time, storytelling became the thread connecting everything I do. I became drawn to emotionally rich stories filled with resilience, longing, vulnerability, hope, and transformation — the quiet moments that change people from the inside out. That eventually led me toward writing romance, particularly atmospheric, emotionally layered stories inspired by history and human connection.
Today, whether I’m building community online, hosting Avon events, creating art, or writing novels, I’m still guided by the same belief that shaped me as a child: stories — in all forms — have the power to comfort, connect, and remind people they are not alone.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all. Like most creative journeys, mine has been layered with reinvention, uncertainty, and learning how to keep going even when progress feels slow or invisible.
One of the biggest challenges was learning to believe there was room for my voice in spaces that often seem focused on perfection, trends, or polished success stories. I came into creative work carrying a deep love of storytelling and connection, but also a very real awareness of how complicated life can be behind the scenes. That can create self-doubt — especially when you are building something publicly while still evolving personally.
There were also practical challenges. Building an online presence, growing a business, creating consistently, and developing confidence as a writer all take time. I’ve had to learn how to wear many hats at once — creator, entrepreneur, community builder, storyteller, and marketer — often while navigating limited resources and the normal realities of adult life.
Another meaningful challenge has been finding ways to create authentically in online spaces that can sometimes reward performance over sincerity. That is part of why I built my Avon presence around “real skin,” softness, honesty, and genuine conversation, especially within 55+ communities. I wanted women to feel welcomed rather than pressured. I wanted beauty and self-care to feel comforting, not intimidating.
Growing slowly has probably been one of the hardest — and most valuable — lessons. Whether it’s building a readership, growing social media, or establishing a business, meaningful connection rarely happens overnight. But I’ve learned that slow growth often creates the strongest foundation because it’s rooted in trust and real relationships.
At the same time, every challenge has shaped the work itself. The emotional depth in my writing, my appreciation for resilience, and the way I connect with people today all come from lived experience. I don’t think I would tell stories the same way without those obstacles.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I consider myself a storyteller first, even across different creative spaces.
My work exists at the intersection of storytelling, creativity, beauty, and community-building. I’m especially drawn to creating experiences that feel emotionally authentic and deeply human — whether that’s through writing fiction, building an online presence centered around honest self-care, hosting engaging Avon events for 55+ communities, or creating spaces where people feel seen and comfortable being themselves.
A large part of my creative identity is rooted in atmosphere and emotional connection. I’m fascinated by the small details that make people feel something — softness, nostalgia, vulnerability, resilience, romance, comfort, transformation. Those themes appear consistently throughout everything I create.
In my writing, I gravitate toward emotionally layered, atmospheric stories with strong emotional tension and deeply personal character journeys. In my online work, I focus on authenticity over perfection. My approach to beauty and self-care is intentionally grounded in “real skin,” approachable routines, and helping women feel like themselves again rather than chasing impossible standards.
What I’m most proud of is creating connection in ways that feel genuine. Whether someone is reading something I wrote, attending one of my Avon gatherings, engaging with my content online, or simply sharing a conversation, I want them to leave feeling encouraged, understood, or inspired.
I think what sets me apart is that I don’t separate creativity from humanity. For me, storytelling isn’t confined to books — it carries into the way I build community, the way I speak to people, and the way I create experiences that feel warm, personal, and emotionally real.
Any big plans?
I’m entering a season where I’m focusing on building things with deeper intention and longevity.
One of my biggest goals is continuing to grow my creative work in a way that feels sustainable, meaningful, and genuinely connected to people. That includes expanding my writing projects, developing my author identity further, and continuing to create emotionally rich stories that readers can fully disappear into.
I’m also excited about growing the community side of my work. I’ve loved building spaces — both online and in person — that feel warm, welcoming, and authentic, especially for women who often feel overlooked in modern beauty and lifestyle spaces. I plan to continue expanding my Avon events and outreach within 55+ communities while creating more content centered around “real skin,” softness, confidence, and approachable self-care.
Creatively, I’m looking forward to bringing more of my worlds together — writing, storytelling, visual branding, art, atmosphere, and community-building — into something that feels cohesive and uniquely mine. I’m especially interested in creating a brand that feels both comforting and aspirational: emotionally grounded, but still imaginative and immersive.
More than anything, I’m looking forward to continued growth — not just professionally, but personally. I’ve learned that meaningful work is rarely built overnight, and I’ve come to appreciate the value of building slowly, thoughtfully, and authentically. I’m excited to see where that path leads next.
