Tania, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey began during my last year of college when I faced the challenge of balancing a full-time course load while trying to secure a job. Realizing I needed an income, I decided to take matters into my own hands and start a small business—something unique that no one I knew had tried before. Initially, it was difficult, but I soon found myself drawn to taking photos of nature with my phone. I started an Instagram page to share my work and even enrolled in a photography class to develop my skills further.
As I honed my craft, I began sharing my work with friends, who encouraged me to keep going. Every photoshoot quickly became a joy, but the best part is hearing clients say how much they love my photos. Photography turned into a passion I never knew I had. I love connecting with people and helping them create lasting memories through my lens, and I’m excited to continue growing in this field.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Being a small business owner doesn’t guarantee steady sales, and I’ve had to work hard to build momentum. At times, I questioned if I’d made the right choice, especially since I’m not naturally an outgoing person. But through this journey, I’ve found ways to challenge myself, becoming more open and comfortable connecting with my clients. It’s been rewarding to see my personal growth along the way, and I’m determined to keep working hard to make this business a success.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a photographer based in Dallas, originally drawn to capturing nature. Over time, my work has expanded to include a range of photography, from weddings and birthdays to family portraits and even sports photography. I’m proud of how I’ve grown and adapted, constantly challenging myself to improve and bring fresh perspectives to each project. What sets me apart is my commitment to making every session a personal experience, allowing me to create authentic, memorable images. I love building connections with clients and capturing moments that truly reflect who they are.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
my advice is to start by connecting with people who inspire you, whether online or in person. Don’t be afraid to reach out to photographers or other professionals whose work you admire; most people are happy to share advice and experiences. Joining local photography groups, attending workshops, or even participating in online communities can also be incredibly helpful. For me, simply being open to learning from others and asking questions has been key. Building genuine connections and showing a willingness to grow can open doors to mentorship and valuable networking opportunities.
