Today we’d like to introduce you to Titilayo Hassan.
Hi Titilayo, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
At Layo Creations Festifund, our journey began with a deep understanding of a unique tradition—spraying cash at celebratory events, especially within African communities. This vibrant custom is a joyful expression of love, honor, and celebration. But over time, we noticed a recurring challenge: the process of collecting and managing the money often became chaotic, stressful, and distracting.
At many events, friends or children are asked to gather cash from the dance floor, pulling them away from the celebration and into a logistical task. Meanwhile, the celebrants—who should be basking in the joy of their special day—are left with the burden of sorting through thousands of bills after the party. Imagine having to organize $10,000 in $1 bills just to make a bank deposit. It’s time-consuming, overwhelming, and takes away from the magic of the moment.
Festifund was born as a hands-on solution to this problem. We provide trained team members on-site to collect, sort, and organize all cash in real time—so guests, friends, and family can stay present and enjoy the celebration. No more misplaced money, no more post-party stress.
We also make it easy for guests who may have forgotten to bring cash by offering digital payment options like Zelle, Cash App, and Venmo. This ensures that everyone can participate in the tradition of giving, regardless of how they choose to pay.
What started as a response to a cultural need has grown into a trusted service that enhances the experience for everyone involved. At Festifund, we honor tradition while bringing organization, ease, and joy back to the celebration.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Great question—and one that truly reflects the heart of our journey at Layo Creations Festifund.
No, it hasn’t always been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges we’ve faced from the beginning is trust. Understandably, people are hesitant to hand over their money to someone they don’t know—especially in the context of African events, where cash gifting is deeply cultural and emotionally significant. The idea of a stranger managing thousands of dollars on the dance floor can feel risky, and we don’t take that lightly.
That’s why we’ve built a transparent and professional process to earn our clients’ confidence. Before every event, we provide detailed documentation outlining how funds will be collected, tracked, and reconciled. After the event, we follow up with clear reports and summaries so clients know exactly what was received and how it was handled. This level of accountability is not just a promise—it’s a standard.
As an Accountant by profession, reconciling numbers and ensuring financial accuracy is second nature to me. I bring that expertise into every event we manage, treating each dollar with the same care and precision I would in a corporate world.
Over time, as word spread and clients saw the integrity of our work, trust began to grow. Today, we’re proud to be a trusted name in cash management service space, helping families celebrate without stress and ensuring that every gift is honored and accounted for.
It’s been a journey of proving ourselves, one event at a time—and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a full-time Accountant by profession, but entrepreneurship has always been a driving force in my life. In addition to my corporate career, I own and operate several businesses including Festifund, Layo Creations, and ventures in real estate. I earned both my undergraduate and graduate degrees in Accounting from Rutgers University in New Jersey, and have had the opportunity to work across diverse industries such as manufacturing, life insurance, education, real estate and investment.
That said, the entrepreneurial spirit runs deep in me likely inspired by my parents, who were both business owners. Growing up in that environment taught me the value of ownership, resilience, and resourcefulness.
People who know me personally often describe me as someone who’s generous with knowledge and genuinely invested in others’ success. I believe there’s room for everyone to thrive, and I never hesitate to share insights or information that could help someone reach their personal or business goals.
What I’m most proud of is my consistency and endurance. My journey hasn’t been without setbacks, but I’ve learned to embrace those moments as opportunities for growth. I use those lessons to guide others who are walking similar paths, offering not just advice, but real-world perspective.
What truly sets me apart is the way I approach business with intentionality, integrity, and professionalism. I don’t jump into ventures impulsively; I research thoroughly, perform due diligence, and present myself with credibility, regardless of the relationship I may have with a client or partner. I maintain clear boundaries between business and personal life, and that’s something my friends and colleagues respect and appreciate.
At the core of everything I do is a commitment to excellence and a belief that trust is earned through action. That’s the foundation I build on whether I’m balancing books, managing a team, or helping a client celebrate life’s biggest moments.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Finding a mentor, in my experience, is less about formal titles and more about intentional relationships. I’ve learned that mentorship often comes from simply engaging with people who inspire you—whether they’re seasoned professionals, fellow entrepreneurs, or even close friends who offer honest, thoughtful insight.
I actively tap into my network by attending industry events, participating in business forums, and having regular conversations with people whose perspectives I value. I also consume a lot of audiobooks and podcasts that align with my business goals. These resources often feel like mentorship in themselves, offering guidance and strategies from voices I may never meet in person but still learn from deeply.
One thing that’s worked well for me is being open and consistent. I don’t just reach out when I need something—I stay connected, share updates, and ask for feedback on specific decisions I’m considering. That builds trust and keeps the relationship authentic.
I also believe in reciprocity. Even if someone is mentoring me, I always look for ways to offer value in return—whether it’s sharing a resource, making a connection, or simply being a sounding board.
Ultimately, mentorship is about alignment and access. When you surround yourself with people who challenge and uplift you, and you’re willing to ask questions and listen, mentorship naturally unfolds.
