We’re looking forward to introducing you to Veronica Petty. Check out our conversation below.
Veronica, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Right now, a normal fall/winter day in the garden is slower, more intentional, and focused on preparation rather than harvest. My mornings usually begin with walking the garden checking plants, soil moisture, and any signs of stress or pests. This quiet time helps me decide what needs attention that day.
Much of the work centers on pruning fruit trees, figs, berries, cleaning beds, cutting back perennials, and composting healthy debris. Cool-season planting is ongoing, so I’m direct-sowing or transplanting crops like leafy greens, roots, onions, garlic, and cover crops to protect and enrich the soil.
Daily tasks often include mulching beds, amending soil with compost, checking irrigation, and protecting tender plants from cold snaps. Planning for this upcoming season by reviewing what worked, what didn’t, and making adjustments.
Fall and winter in the garden are about stewardship, rest, and readiness by laying the groundwork for the abundance to come.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Veronica, the heart behind Simply Grace Gardens LLC. I help families and individuals in urban spaces learn how to grow their own food in practical, achievable ways, even with limited space and resources. My work blends gardening education, stewardship, and faith, encouraging people to reconnect with the land, their health, and one another.
What makes Simply Grace Gardens special is our focus on grace-filled growth by meeting people where they are and showing them that gardening doesn’t have to be perfect to be productive. From hands-on workshops and community gatherings to thoughtfully curated seedling packs and grow boxes, everything is designed to build confidence, nourish the body, and cultivate purpose. Right now, I’m expanding seasonal workshops, developing themed grow boxes, and creating resources that help individuals grow food, wellness, and hope one garden at a time. 🌿
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
The garden taught me the most about work building patience, remaining consistent, and the beauty of steady, faithful effort. There are also two amazing ladies who have been instrumental in this journey. From soil to marketing, they have generously shared their wisdom and knowledge, helping Simply Grace Gardens to grow into a trusted and financially sound brand. Their guidance, alongside the lessons learned from the land, has shaped not only how I work, but how I lead, build, and steward this vision God has given me with purpose and care.
When did you last change your mind about something important?
I last time I changed my mind about something important was when I revisited the vision and mission for Simply Grace Gardens LLC. I realized I had veered off the path originally mapped out. It reminded me how easy it is to try to do everything instead of focusing on our true purpose. Just like a garden, every element from soil, plants, structures, to gardeners have a specific role, and our role at Simply Grace Gardens is clear: we educate and equip urban families with the tools and resources needed through hands-on workshops and curated grow boxes. Shifting back to this mission has been incredible. We were able to touch over 125 families this year. In 2026, we’re bringing our full vision to life: helping families confidently grow their own food, cultivating both skill and independence.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What truths are so foundational in your life that you rarely articulate them?
At the heart of Simply Grace Gardens LLC are truths that guide everything I do, even when I don’t say them aloud. I believe that growth requires patience and care, whether in the garden, life, or community. Purpose matters more than perfection and thriving in what we were made for brings far greater rewards than trying to do it all. My faith In God shapes my daily life, centering my work and decisions in a biblical foundation, prayer, and gratitude.
Knowing that meaningful impact is strengthened when we lift one another up, I focus on building community presence through service and collaboration with other small businesses. Education and empowerment are transformative, and I strive to equip families with practical tools and knowledge so they can confidently grow food, health, and hope. I value simplicity and accessibility, making sustainable practices achievable for all. Last but certainly not least, I am committed to reflection and course correction, continuously realigning my mission to ensure that every action supports the purpose behind Simply Grace Gardens and the people I serve.
In summary, I believe growth takes patience and care. My faith in God guides my daily work, and community strengthens everything I do. I’m passionate about empowering families with practical tools and knowledge to grow their own food, health, and hope. By keeping things simple, accessible, and rooted in purpose, I help people thrive and continually align our work with the mission to make a lasting impact.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope that families, community organizations, and individuals will say I was a faithful steward who positively impacted lives with grace, wisdom, and insight, transforming homes and communities through the power of gardening. That I cared deeply for my family, my community, the people I served, and the land. Rememberd as one who showed up consistently, teaching and empowering others to grow, not just plants, but confidence, health, and hope. My prayer is that I am remembered as one who led with purpose, generosity, and heart, creating spaces where families could learn, connect, and thrive. Most of all, I want them to see that I lived a life rooted in grace, intention, service, and love trusting God’s guidance as I committed to Him all I did knowing my plans were established (Proverbs 16:3). I believe my legacy will continue to bloom long after I’m gone, blessing families and communities for generations.
