Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiara Davis.
Tiara, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a Corporate Finance Professional, Philanthropist, and Entrepreneur. I have 6+ years of financial experience, ranging in financial analysis, budgeting, banking, & business development. After completing my MBA in Corporate Finance in 2015, I recognized the need for a safe place for women to excel amongst one another.
In 2016, I founded C3 Women’s Network to provide a platform for women to engage in entrepreneurship and corporate career readiness. We are a Goal Digging Movement! C3 Women’s Network hosts business seminars, engages in community outreach, and has organized a mentoring program for young girls ages 7-17, known as C3 Junior League. Our mentoring program consists of a free 5 month curriculum, including self esteem, finance & entrepreneurship, teamwork, STEM, and College Planning. At the completion of our program, our girls have the opportunity to compete for College Scholarships that are awarded at our Annual Scholarship Gala in August.
My passion to help others and engage in women empowerment has prompted me to teach seminars on financial freedom and entrepreneurship through my business, Quin Crowned, LLC. Quin Crowned, LLC is a resource for financial education through seminars, publications, and private coaching. I help my clients by providing the resources and strategies to execute with confidence. I also teach seminars and workshops to the Women’s Network and our mentoring program, C3 Junior League. Our girls are familiar with an income statement and have learned the general principles of budgeting for personal and a business. I truly believe it is our responsibility to build the next generation of “Goal Diggers” and we are doing that in Fort Worth.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
After graduating college, I soon learned that Finance was a male dominated field and that my degree would not move me to the forefront. After some tough moves in my Corporate Career, I learned to excel by speaking up, promoting new ideas, and challenging my peers and management. My focus and determination to do the right thing have allowed me to work directly for a CFO for a multi-million dollar company based in Fort Worth, TX.
As women, we are already facing competition in Corporate America, especially in male dominated fields. I challenge each of you to empower another woman and support her. Get to know the woman sitting next to you and determine how you can work together and make things happen. We are so much stronger as a unit and we have to be careful because the next generation is watching. Make the RIGHT impact on our young women and show them that us supporting one another is the only way.
What should we know about Founder of C3 Women’s Network & Quin Crowned LLC? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am currently a Senior Business Analyst, reporting directly to the CFO for an Agriculture company in Fort Worth, TX. My primary focus is to manage project priorities and financial process solutions for the CFO. I also prepare and manage acquisition analysis & capital investment decisions, including financial models, executive reports and presentations as needed. My specialty is financial planning & analysis, project management, and process improvement. I like to identify problems within a business and createa structure through strategic development.
Outside of my Corporate Career, I am the Founder & CEO of C3 Women’s Network & the Owner of Quin Crowned, LLC. For C3 Women’s Network, my focus is to provide a platform for my members by hosting community events and workshops to promote their businesses. For our mentoring program, C3 Junior League, my focus is to encourage our young ladies and teach them to create goals, create an action plan, and get to work.
Quin Crowned, LLC is so dear to me because there is a such a need for financial literacy in our communities. I want to do my part by teaching budgeting, planning, and process improvement to small business owners, startups, and individuals that want more out of life. I have taken what I have learned in Corporate America and simplified its frame to help build financial awareness in the community.
I think what sets me apart from others is my passion to give to my purpose. I know that my purpose is to inspire our community, empower women, and teach financial literacy to as many people as I can. At the end of the day, it’s about setting the next generation up to be competitive. I wish I knew the things I know now about finance. I wouldn’t have made so many mistakes. I’ve learned from them and now my goal is to help as many as I can.
For good reason, society often focuses more on the problems rather than the opportunities that exist, because the problems need to be solved. However, we’d probably also benefit from looking for and recognizing the opportunities that women are better positioned to capitalize on. Have you discovered such opportunities?
Women have always been at the forefront of the media in both positive and negative ways. Now that we are supporting one another, we can make a major impact in society and let our voices be heard. We are taking charge, challenging the norm, and making strides in the right direction. Because of our position, it’s imperative that we sow into our youth. Young girls have access to so much with social media and the internet. I challenge all women in DFW that are successful business owners and entrepreneurs to help our young ladies and build them up to be the queens they aspire to be. We have to show them their options and challenge them to want more for themselves.
