Meet Amanda Watson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Watson.

Amanda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
As a plus size fashion professional living in San Francisco, I was constantly buying clothing for work, non-profit events, and the many nights out. Sometimes, I won’t wear an item more than twice, but I couldn’t find a resource to trade or sell all of my items over a size 14. So, I founded StyleForIt. This is a marketplace for women sizes 12-32.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I had started the site three years ago, but until 2018 I continued to work in Wholesale and Merchandising, not giving the site the focus it needed. I have focused on the site full time for a year now, I have hired and let go of people trying to support the site – many didn’t quite get the ins and outs of the Plus segment, I finally feel like I am getting the right team in place.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with StyleForIt.com – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
We are the first and only Plus Size Fashion Resale and Consignment website – we have a model where it can be used internationally as well. Clients can post items on their own and we provide the shipping labels.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
We are looking at acquiring some funding to change the model to buy a product from sellers and stock from major Plus Size brands. We would like to grow our marketing budget to really make StyleForIt the go-to resource for Plus Fashion. Layering in a Plus Rental program for Special Occasion.
