Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeffrey Howard.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jeffrey. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am better known by my stage name, Altitude. I am an emcee in the genre of Hip Hop. My passions are engrained in capturing reality, culture, and art through photography, music, and writing. I was born in Houston but raised mainly in Dallas, Texas and New Orleans, Louisiana. Though a Texas native, I am deep-rooted and connection to Louisiana. After Hurricane Katrina, my family and I relocated from New Orleans to Dallas. Once there, I began to develop skills in the art form of Hip Hop. As an emcee, I really wanted to focus on lyricism, speaking on social/political matters and my strong faith in God. As a photographer, I have always tried to capture candid authenticity and stunning optics. Doing what I love means the world to me and sharing it means even more.
In 2012, I released my first of three mixtapes and in 2016, I released my debut album “Project Window.” I am currently working on a self-titled project “Altitude.”
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Some of my struggles have been growing up in a single parent home. Living in New Orleans and surviving Hurricane Katrina.
Building Narrow Minds – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Building Narrow Minds an idea birth into reality as a movement of a solo artist working together to spread love, truth and Gods love through Hip Hop and other elements of the arts.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
For me, success isn’t based on status, accolades, financial gains or popularity contests. I view success as being solidified by my own personal ambitions. Success for me consists of doing what you love and loving what you do. If I am waking up every day with a smile on my face and feeling thankful for the opportunities God has blessed me with, then I am successful.
