Meet Justin Atkinson of Trinity Event Staffing in Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justin Atkinson.

Justin, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
“A well-accomplished life is not the same as a well-lived one” is my saying. What do you do when the tape runs out the end of the reel on what you had planned? I can honestly say that just holding North on my “first love” of service to others has made all of the difference in business. Of all the partners who founded it, I am the only one who remains.

Mostly because I live it and love it 100% every day. The fork in the road of success came through my two post-college trajectories. The first was learning and excelling in the legal field. The second was gaining proficiency in website design. My life seems to have incredible continuity when looking backward, even if it made no sense in my 30’s looking forward. As for the present, I have the positivity and grit of someone who has weathered a thousand storms, so the ones on the horizon don’t seem as scary.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The business challenges: There have been plenty of struggles, and the road we are on has been far from smooth. Growing Trinity Event Staffing from an idea to an apartment office to a real office, and through expansions into other cities has brought us many challenges to face. A few key challenges that we have faced include differentiating ourselves in the market, adapting to a wide variety of needs and demands of our different high profile clients, and of course as all industries and businesses know—talent retention has to be one of our biggest obstacles. Essentially, working in the events industry, and especially in Event Staffing–means that we are in the problem-solving business. We face our challenges and obstacles with a resolute will to win and improve ourselves and our business in the process.

The personal challenges:
-Simultaneously juggling building a business, maintaining a marriage and becoming a daddy
-becoming trapped in the granular operations of the business and then having to find my way back out to create sustainability for myself

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Trinity Event Staffing is a provider of the top talent in the corporate foodservice, catering, and special events industries. Broadly speaking, we specialize in emphasizing excellence and a constant drive to improve throughout all the levels of our business. More specifically, we are a major provider of culinary talent and that has developed into a specialty that Trinity Event Staffing has become known for. We are most proud of the talented team we’ve built, and the wide-ranging group of clients we have the honor of serving every day. Trinity Event Staffing is set apart in our industry through leadership and innovation. We strive to be the leaders and innovate as part of our core philosophy.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Starting the business at the peak of the 2009 housing recession appeared to many like a crazy thing to do. However, it was very good luck because we had a large group of unemployed people who had great work ethics, great leadership skills, etc. but were just unemployed or under-employed. It helped to establish a great long-tail reputation for our company because our ‘product’ had so many talented workers whom we got to “borrow” from their other primary trades. This opportunity to help thousands of people get through a rough patch in US history directly lent itself to our current reputation as a great place to work!
